They should have just thrown the champion into a seeded tournament bracket and let the belt get pushed along like in any other sports league. No one gave a poo poo about the Bellator tournaments and slightly tweaking the format would have made the promotion less hilarious which is bad. At least then we'd get situations where champions would lose non title matches and the guy who won had to enter a tournament to get a shot. That's funny for months. Seeing the champion put in a tournament where the crowd doesn't give a poo poo about anyone in the tournament? Boring.
