I'm sensitive to lovely portrayals and I don't have any inkling that his character is intended to be 'gay stereotype.' I thought the character was based on Billy Eichner's super loud, mega-enthusiastic shtick, which is hit or miss for me. But, I also don't know that much about Eichner outside of one episode of "Billy on the Street," and I had no idea he is openly gay.

The season seems forgettable because all of the good episodes happened before the midseason break (an arbitrary distinction, I guess, but the back-half felt like a very different show).
