This probably isn't the place to ask, but you all seem like beer nerds and there's bound to be a few of you that know both Dallas and Houston.

Does the houston area have an equivalent to Mr. G's in Plano? I haven't found a place down here with the same kind of selection as them.

Looks like Total Wine and Spec's (which bought Mr. G's a few years ago) both have locations in Houston. Here in Dallas they both have awesome selections, but they are bigger chain stores so the beer selections are maybe not quite as individualized to the managers' tastes like Mr. G's and Kegs & Barrels in Plano. Still, I think you will probably find what you're looking for at either of those places.

Yeah, specs has a far better beer selection than anyone else I've seen around here. The only problem is that they're more of a liquor store than anything. So they have maybe 1/5th the selection of places like Mr G's. Hell, I think the entire Mr G's store minus the deli was bigger than my local Specs.

I work for Spec's. They're based in Houston, and their biggest store is on Smith St. Every store should have a beer specialist, and they're usually really into beer. Go in, look around, and don't hesitate to ask for the beer guy. Anything you don't see, if it's available in TX, and not a super limited release, they should be able to order by the case for you.

Yeah, I know they do cases but I really don't need to be throwing down $55 on a case of Old Rasputin :v:
I'll probably ride out to the one on smith for the hell of it and see what they have.

Oh, just Old Rasputin? If you don't have that in stock, you're a failure at Imperial Stout. I work in a 5K sqft store, and we still stock Old Ras'. Smith St is multiple stories. It's like 70K sqft of food and booze. We call it The Mothership.

Oh, they have it at the one I usually go to in Baytown. I only used it as an example because it's awesome and everyone knows what it is. It's just hard to go order a case of something you've never tried before when it's $50+ a case.

e: When I'm not working 70-80hrs/wk I'm going to go spend entirely too much money on random beer at the Smith St. store.

I for one find it refreshing how it went, over a just a few days, from raining and 80 degrees for 2 months to 95 degrees every day.

Anyone else make it to MotoLiberty over the weekend? I got a sweet VIP pin for my riding jacket.

Can you guys send a motoliberty franchise to Houston? All we have is Cyclegear.

I had similar problems with stalling the 125 they gave us. I was trying to not rev it and be really loud, which is exactly what you have to do to get a 125cc cruiser to move at all. Took a while to get over that.
