I'm holding off on Misery until a proper 2.1 (or something close to that) release hits. It seems like they've got a whole lot of great ideas and content there, but it just needs tuning and playtesting.

Looks like Misery 2.1 is finally rolling out sometime in the next few hours. Sounds like it's pretty much the mod now that should have released in the first place.

Complete is basically a one-stop shop for bringing the first two STALKER games closer Call of Pripyat's level. It's not quite as in-depth as longer running projects, but it's simple and fixes things enough so that you're unlikely to encounter any significant problems in either game. The third game is pretty polished by itself, though.

Gestalt Intellect posted:Yeah every now and then I've looked back at the patch notes for 2.0 after its first release and none of it looks like it fixes any of the actual problems I had with the mod, and if anything a lot of it looks even stupider like decreasing enemy reaction times at close range or making mutants see you better through foliage. During installation it specifically asks whether you want Misery standard settings, or an easier mode with weaker enemy armor, less accurate enemies, etc.

Saint Sputnik posted:Lost Alpha is supposed to be impossible to install, right? with the missing .tlx file and then the missing UI thing once you resolve that and no fix that anybody can suggest despite numerous people reporting the same issue? That's a feature, not a bug? Where are you having trouble? Because I remember just downloading the torrent and running the installer as if it were just any other game. No technical problems, beyond the regular bugs.

Didn't see anyone mention it, but development on Lost Alpha is continuing again. The version that's out now was rushed out due to leaks, so all those fancy huge new maps were pretty empty and hollow. Oh, and bugs. Plenty of bugs. The Director's Cut version (as they're calling it) is going to have full A-life stuff happening across all the major open-world areas. Apparently higher spawn density and more varied creature picks than the original game, for more mutant-on-mutant fighting. They're also working on bringing CoP's weapon upgrade system over. Could be interesting. They've also got the full SDK and 100 unfinished prototype maps bundled with it, so it should be easier to expand than any other STALKER game once they're done.
