Usually "no kill" superhero rules irritate me because it just seems like a dumb way to keep things kid friendly versus the actual practicality of letting essentially weapons of mass destruction live on. However, this was an extremely organic and plausible way to turn Ollie into a no kill superhero, and it proves that the writers know how to use the long form to develop characters naturally. Nicely done Arrow. Also, show owns, Ollie owns, Diggle owns, Slade owns, Felicity owns, it all owns. Even the Thea subplot was decent and the way they are moving Roy towards Speedy/Arsenal is believable. How were the ratings?

hi liter posted:Didn't this threaders ct mostly negatively to this shows Huntress? I personally didn't mind it, but does the potential for a birds of prey make up for that? Most of the not-here reviews I read here were fine with the Huntress episodes. I didn't have a problem with them. Boogaleeboo posted:It's sort of like how Gotham always had a crime problem, but the second Batman shows up it has a super-crime problem. It's basically straight text stated in universe that all these crazy people come out of the woodwork and do their crazy rear end poo poo entirely because he exists as a symbol. She feels the same way about the Hood. Sure you had a ton of muggings and assaults before the Hood, but you didn't have guys in loving costumes shooting arrows at each other and setting off earthquake machines. That really only seems to start happening when he enters the picture. And it's unfair to a certain degree because Merlyn was always planning what he was planning and it would have happened either way, but to someone deep in grief it can certainly seem like things escalated into insanity after he showed up. And the copy-cats really wouldn't have existed without him. There's a great B:TAS episode where Batman gets put on trial by the Arkham inmates who try to prove that he is actually the catalyst for all the super-crime in Gotham.

I would be shocked if we ever see Ra's in the show. But if it gets popular enough I suppose anything is possible. When Slade and Ollie were looking at the ship through the binoculars, I noticed a large red pagoda-ish building. Have we seen that before?

It totally could be nothing, I was just wondering if we'd seen it before, or if it was some reference. This show is so chock full of references to DC I guess I start wondering if completely extraneous stuff means anything.

So Black Canary hangs out in a clock tower, and I seem to recall that the Birds of Prey WB show had a clocktower HQ as well. Is that just an established thing or a coincidence.

Yeah I thought she did a real good job. Also freckles I don't really mind that the "she survived the boat :o " is an obvious retcon, because I think they need to do more to tie the island stuff into the main plot stuff. Also, I can start to see how they are going to answer the "Why is ollie a capo in the Russian mafia" question.

Oh yeah, the weapon switch in the middle of their fight was awesome. I also like rather than going with the conceit of "the hero begrudgingly teams up with the new kid on the scene", Ollie's just like "let's see what you got son".

The scary pirate captain asked Ollie if he noticed if the skeletons he found were malformed in some way, I wonder if that is somehow related to the serum that Bro Blood is using?

It's completely possible that they are going to separate DC movie and DC TV continuities. I mean, they've already had a show about the most famous DC guy, so it's not like it's unprecedented. I'm eagerly awaiting the first reference to that guy flying around Metropolis.
