Because it, like Spider- Man Loves Mary Jane, is an excellently written book with great art and a plot interesting to people outside the usual FLCS crowd.

So yes, romance comics are loving awesome so long as they're written that well. It's a martyr because of how unique a good fun ALL AGES comic is.
