I'm in the middle of my new-fan binge, and this show is glorious. Drunk Croach is the best.

Annakie posted:Any time Croach gets to let loose, start emoting and says what's actually on his mind is one of my favorite things. Leospeare, when you get there, make sure you don't skip "Tales from the TroubleShooters!" after "Murder in his Place". I accidentally did the first time and was really confused when something big happened in the next Sparks episode. Oh, I'm catching all of the Sparks spinoffs. The only things I'm skipping are the War of Two Worlds (they're okay, just very different from the rest of TAH) and Colonel Tick-Tock, which I can't seem to get interested in for some reason. I might go back and listen to them after I've finished the rest. I did listen to the Colonel Tick-Tock episode with Nikola Tesla and Ben Franklin (mostly for the MST3k guest stars) and I loved the bit where Tick-Tock is trying to explain Charlie Brown to Tesla. I've been humming the theme songs to Sparks Nevada, Moonshine Holler and Captain Laserbeam nonstop for the past week.

radlum posted:That's gonna be great; I'm guessing a Beyond Belief segment for the crossover. Is it an actual crossover or just a double billing? What a show either way, though. Throw in The Bugle as halftime entertainment and that's my Perfect Podcast Storm. Edit: reread the link, "one story, two creative teams". Epic. Annakie posted:What I found most interesting is that Paul isn't going to be at Emerald City Comic Con, so the theory that the Welcome to Night Vale crossover would be with Beyond Belief is... probably not correct? I mean they could have it just be Sadie but, that seems unlikely. I'm even more intrigued about what they're going to do now. Theories? drat, there goes my longshot theory that Cecil would be replaced by Jib Janeen. "Hi, all my hooded buddies!" I love both of these shows but they're so different in setting, tone, and comic style. I have no idea how they're going to pull this off. I think they will, and it will be fantastic, but damned if I can see how. Maybe they'll just go full-on sitcom crossover, like when Urkel would visit Full House or something. "Hey everybody, Cactoid Jim is here and he's brought his cousin Cecil to visit!" "Hello, Martian listeners." (wild studio audience applause)

Today's Beyond Belief was one of their best ever, I think. The writing was fantastic and all the actors, regulars and guest stars, completely nailed it.

I wasn't sure based on the audio from the panel, but was the mystery tour destination implied to be Australia?

Annakie posted:Yeah, it's definitely Australia. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture of Porno Kangaroo. The slide also had like, Crocidile Dundee, Neutella, Vegemite, and a boomerang on it. Hell yes. Or, at least I can get my hopes up that they'll tack on a New Zealand show to that tour.

Oh, Moonshine Holler, how I've missed you. Craig and Hal are awesome, but I kinda want the alternate universe show starring John Hodgman and PFT.

Megaspel posted:Has anyone else got really bored of tTAH after being really into it after a while? After all the adverts and updates where they just put up three slightly different variants of the exact same dialogue, I just got bored of not knowing if I was listening to new content or not. Now I really only listen to Beyond Belief, but all the shows seemed to have been going in some cannibalistic story loop that just never progressed. The worst was probably when that superhero one just had the exact same plot each god drat episode, they got a little better, but I still got bored of it. I have no idea what you mean by "cannibalistic story loop" - are you saying some of the shows are episodic and don't have season-long story arcs? Well yeah, some of the TAH shows are based on a premise and tell standalone stories. Captain Laserbeam is pretty same-y from episode to episode with its recurring dialogue and plot beats, but so was Superman in the 40s. If you want an ongoing story with regular plot progression and changes to the status quo, you want Sparks Nevada. I don't know what else to tell you. The variant episodes were an illustration of the variety of performance you get on a tour, and it only happened one time, so it's an odd thing to complain about not knowing if you're getting new (entirely free) content.

Got tickets to the Auckland show. Never thought I'd get to say that, even after they announced the Down Under tour...

The Auckland show was incredible! As was PFT's indescribable suit.

Have you got any other pics from the show? I didn't even think about trying to sneak any (and I doubt my camera would have gotten anything decent anyway). (Jesus, that suit. On ANYONE ELSE it would be ridiculous, how does he pull it off so well?)
