I'll watch "No Small Parts" forever. Awesome, awesome work.

Here's a project I'm working on...

Back in college, I was learning more about postproduction and editing. One of the projects was to create an experimental film. I decided to make one out of what was in the Prelinger Archives section of Archive.org after seeing some videos by "Taco the Wonder Dog" on the forums circa 2006. The result, after staying awake for over 48 hours, was this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKOPqFz7VOM

(This is a more recently "remixed" version, but mostly the same except with better technical quality)

Afterward, it seemed like an interesting idea to turn this into a feature-length project. Not that it hasn't been done before. The Atomic Cafe is a brilliant mash-up of Cold War films. It tells a story through editing hundreds of clips together. There's also Final Cut: Ladies and Gentlemen, which is a synthetic film created from other films, but tells a straightforward story. From what I've seen, it's another masterpiece of editing.

Instead, I am mostly just having fun with finding ways to break apart these ephemeral films and arrange into something funny, surreal, and perhaps satirical. Not exactly high art, but not to waste anyone's time. Plus, these are all public domain films, so it doesn't cost anything to edit.

The rules I've set so far are to use only public domain video and audio materials. Most of the content is straight from Archive.org (mainly A/V Geeks and Prelinger Archives), with some materials grabbed from other sources. I've made a few exceptions so far (one segment uses music from the "Dirty Cowboy" video, but I might replace it with something similar).

On the technical end, this is being edited at 720p resolution from mostly 4x3 low to good quality video (standard def). I have added some filters to disguise compression artifacts as increased grain. Since there's a lot of zooming, cropping, and re-framing, it's programmed to be consistent. It's going to be mostly 1.66:1 (since most footage is 4x3), but I plan on a few parts being framed at 2.20:1 like the college short. Each shot is being adjusted manually to get the best composition rather than a straight crop to 16x9.

I have some of the rough cuts of segments on YouTube...

(Bunch of sex education films made funny - sort of NWS due to penis diagrams)

(All video from Shake Hands with Danger - 78 RPM source for the Blue Danube Waltz, laugh track from stock effects. Obviously, this is meant to be a homage to the Benny Hill pantomime skits)
Warning: A few bits of blood and gore

Well I was hoping for comments beyond the typical, sardonic, "hurr it looks dumb, and they're ideas about X,Y, and Z are undefined so this must be crap."

I do think you were being unclear, to the extent that the criticisms you're levying against the project are about as valid as any comment made on the internet about something that hasn't fully gotten off the ground yet. I do appreciate a healthy amount of skepticism, but if you're not prepared to give the project the benefit of a doubt than, there's really only so much I can say to try and convince you of it's merit isn't there?

To address the questions you have regarding how the money will be spent:

1. If the movie doesn't reach its funding goal it still gets made, though with a Director who pays substantially more out of pocket, and less-well paid, and likely over-taxed (and therefore more pissed off, and less attentive) crew.

2. The funding is going primarily towards paying actors' salaries, the rental of camera equipment, and the construction of props that will be used in the film (the Armoire device that the movie takes it's namesake from, being one example.).

Your friend's movie sounds dumb, and doesn't deserve the money you are asking for it. It's great that you thought you'd come in here and make converts of us and we'd donate, but what you've put forth isn't really going to do that to anyone. You're only getting "typical, sardonic" responses because your friend's project is uninspired and doesn't deserve the money, not because "oh well duh people are just gonna go hurrrrrrr."

Time for a little robot chauvinism!

Egbert, I like where you're going with a lot of these but I feel like you need to refine the ideas. They feel sporadic, and for all the really good parts there's slower sections where not much editing is going on, and I think we both know most of the original material is pretty hard to watch.

In the Trouble with Women video the sound editing was really harsh. Is there any way you could try to run some noise removal on that fuzz and tone it down a bit so the cuts aren't so jarring? As well, the jump cuts when the boy was talking with his father never felt natural, which is what these kinds of videos need to do. They should remix and distort the original material, but in a way that feels as though it's flowing properly. I'm assuming you've seen stuff by Everything is Terrible but they have a great grasp on getting their editing to flow (although they have a habit of dragging a bit on for too long).

Really loved the Dirty Cowboy bit though.

Personally, I'm a big fan of layering. I wish that in David Lynch's A Visit to Santa you'd do more with the insect footage. I didn't like that it cut away. Instead, they should fade into each other, maybe adding another layer or two. At the very least they need to fade back to Santa, not just end suddenly. Also, Santa in the parade was making me think of the Zapruder Film if you have any interest in going that angle.

I love what you did in your first video with the moving meat, and the xylophone player on top. I wanna see more of that type of stuff.

Overall, good stuff, lookin' forward to seeing more.

Thanks for the analysis. I honestly wasn't expecting this much of a critique!

Which sections seem slow? I hesitated to keep the unbroken shot of the penis names since it does run too long, but I hoped the surreality would justify it. I did shorten it slightly by covering the edit with the old guy ("Teaches must be able to use THESE words"), so perhaps I can cut a bit more down since she goes over the names again, anyways. The bit from "Sally" with the girls kind of runs long, but I thought the dialogue was silly enough to keep it somewhat intact (it's edited to about 50% of the original length of the scene in the original). As for the jump cuts in the boy asking his father, the source actually had a few jump cuts. One jump cut was utilized to shorten about a second or so, but looking at my edit file, I think my trimming is off by a few frames now. I was kind of hoping to make the child come off as more obnoxious, but the second "Yes?" does kind of stick out (even if it's only trimmed a bit from its original place).

I'm actually making some changes to the sex ed segment and it does seem to work better with smoother edits in places. I was sort of hoping the jump cuts would add to it, but it doesn't always seem to work.

I actually thought about the Zapruder connection on that one shot, too, so I might take it out for use in a different segment since there's already plenty of parade footage. Even with the slowing down, which is kind of annoying to me now since it really does drag. I'm thinking it needs to be reduced to about half its current length, then I can add more from the rest of the short that's odd. Perhaps the bizarre trip through Santa's village without narration.

As for sound quality... only the Santa, Shake Hands with Danger, and sex ed segments have proper level work (even if sound is still kind of rough). The bad levels on that video have bugged me, but I haven't gone back to that one yet. I'll definitely check back with more layering on Santa. The next one I want to do is more around hygiene films (like Lunchroom Manners, Soapy the Germ Fighter, Body Care and Grooming, etc).

What's funny is that the shot of the marimba player and the meat conveyor got the most laughs when the short was shown.

Well, that's your opinion and you're totally entitled to it. If I didn't think my friend had any taste or talent I wouldn't bother to help him make his movie or pitch it to people. We have a full cast and crew lined up, made up of working professionals who I have prior experience with, a locked script, locations, and props that are already well underway.

The whole point of this thread is to ask for help to get something made, GonSmithe, if you think the concept of the movie is no good based on hearing the concept or on a trailer that really was shot on a shoestring, then that's entirely your perogative.
I've worked with this group of filmmakers before and I know they're capable of producing solid work, so forgive me if I don't immediately give in to cynicism, throw my hands up in the air, and agree with you.

Here's a link to their vimeo page if you'd care to check our a few examples of their work:

So I'll reiterate, if anyone wants to donate please do.

By the way, I don't expect everyone to "go hurr" but I'm not going to hold my tongue if I disagree with a point of criticism that I feel is overly vague or unconstructive. I'm well aware of the fact that the point of this thread, is in addition to spread projects around, is to offer critiques and criticism.

Criticism is important because it gets you to look at your own work from another perspective. You can be extremely hard on yourself or not hard enough.

I'm trying out changes as recommended by TrixRabbi and I think it is making my work better (not to mention better paced).

Alright, the point of our campaign is to raise half the budget for the film. It's ambitious for its budget, but everyone involved is at the top of their game. It will be excellent, and I'd love to see someone with an open-mind donate or at least share the film we've spent countless hours on so far. You won't regret your decision. Thank you.

The bit with the teacher reading off the penis euphemisms was fine. The beginning of that one was really slow though. I know you trimmed down the homosexual menace video a lot, and the cuts were fine, but it felt a bit too long. Same with the boy asking his dad the questions, but you acknowledged that section needed some work. I like a lot of what you did later in the video, like with the girl being approached by the stranger in the car, and that Tim & Eric style editing of the close-up of the man to make his face twitch.

I think your class was right to laugh hardest at the meat xylophone because that part was hysterical and by far the best thing you've done out of any of these videos. You're making these films communicate with each other, and that's the perfect example of it. And I know you're trying to stay away from copyrighted material, but something like the Dirty Cowboy bit was fantastic, and I think a dash of outside sources could be helpful here and there. Also, completely up to you, but if you could somehow find some people at a table talking in a cafeteria to toss on to the end of the Dirty Cowboy bit, I think that would make it.

Speaking of that bit, I forgot to mention that I loved the editing of the beginning of the video, with the guy behind the desk and the dorky guy in glasses. The quick silent pauses reminded me a lot of Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Great awkward humor.

I'd say keep doing what you're doing, just keep an eye on pacing. And when you start connecting these together, consider bringing them full circle and intertwining them. Looking forward to more!

I added some camera movement in the last part with the creepy freckled kid, so adding it throughout it helping the pacing. I think the problem is that most of these films are too drat static - long boring takes and slow editing. Since I'm using a proportional noise texture, I can zoom in and the grain enlarges to match the zoom. It looks more organic, rather than breaking up into compression.

Here's one shot without the grain effect and color correction:

...and with grain and color work:

Also, here's a screenshot of the current timeline to get an idea of the edits and layering so far:

As for copyrighted stuff... I'm on the fence. I originally wanted to have segments set to songs between segments (like a nuclear scare one set to "In the Wee Small Hours"), but the licensing would be a nightmare. While it's a coin flip for inclusion on YouTube, they muted my initial sex ed segment for using The Sound of Silence over the "slow reflection" bits instead of the guitar music I took from The ABC of Sex Education for Trainables. The music from "Dirty Cowboy" seems to be obscure enough to keep the hellfire of copyright law raining upon me.

Hey everyone, I posted this in the Kickstarter thread in Creative Convention but I thought I would copy and paste it here, if you didn't have a chance to see it.

I would like to talk to you about a 22 minute comedy T.V pilot entitled 'Mythfits'. If you would like to skip our little spiel and go straight to the our IndieGoGo campaign here is the page . If not here is a little rundown of what our T.V show is about, characters, ideas and influences, where the money will go, and directors statement.

What is Mythfits?

‘Mythfits’, was an idea that had its rough beginnings in our first year at film school. We originally made a TV pilot about three male cohorts and their day to day lives at school entitled ‘Welcome To The Party. However, it was terrible, so we retreated to our creative basement to reconstruct our idea from the floor up. Years of tinkering ensued before a night of wine and ephiphanizing in 2013 led to our ‘eureka’ moment where we finally settled on the concept for ‘Mythfits’.

Synopsis

Thousands of days ago a portal to another world opened, unleashing all the creatures of myth, fantasy, and folklore into our realm. The human race, perceiving these invading forces as a threat, pool together their wealth, manpower, and resources to combat these foreign invaders using a cyborg army. However, once the animatronic army descend on the battlefield to confront these mythological creatures, the fantasy based beings surrender and the portal closes, stranding these refugees and curious wanderers. Our pilot takes place 6 years after these events. Most of the Cyborgs have been voluntarily decommissioned, and the individuals from the other world utilize their unique skills to try to assimilate within human society. ‘Mythfits’ follows four individuals, two from the Human world and two from the Mythological realm who are having a fair bit of trouble fitting in.

Characters

Cymon

Cymon is one the few cyborgs who aspired to be something more than just a soldier, so he politely declined to be shut down. He now travels from audition to audition hoping to become the next great thespian actor. Although, there is a slight catch; he cannot express emotion.

Farrokhzad

Farrokhzad is a Genie from the fantasy world, wherein Genies were considered great philosophers and revered thinkers. The wishes they granted had to be formulated and cultivated over years, so it could be refined to its truest and purest essence. Sadly in our world, Farrokhzad’s wishes are hawked on websites like Craiglist and Kijiji for the most basic shallow reasons to help our consumerist, materialistic society. Because of this Farrokhzad has grown bitter, causing many of his wishes to go horribly awry. Now in debt and disillusioned with his gift, Farry is suffering a severe existentialist crisis that threatens to consume him entirely.

Tessa

Tessa is the only human regular of our show. Incredibly driven and career orientated she will stop at nothing to help advance her own life and career. However these Mythfits throw a cog into her plans, and she usually has to serve as the voice of reason when dragged into one of their insane and wacky Mythadventures.

Zach

Zach is the only Unicorn that has made it through the portal, which at first made him a minor celebrity but after squandering opportunity after opportunity he now relies heavily on Farrokhzad for financial and emotional support. Most of Zach’s issues stem from a deep rooted insecurity complex that he externalizes into an overtly masculine physique . He hates being associated with femininity and daintiness, so he works out for hours every day and he hits on everything with two legs (and occasionally four). Even though he tries to be overtly masculine in every regard, he has a deep dark secret that, if revealed, would jeopardize the macho persona he holds himself to.

Why would Goons like this?

I have been a member of this forum for years and I am no stranger to the brand of comedy that is showcased here. Ultimately, to discuss our T.V show we have to discuss what influences us in terms of Television and other forms of media. We want to homage the same kind of sci-fi/fantasy plots that Rick and Morty are known for or the high concept episodes of Community. We want the same dedication to plot, narrative development, and cohesive story as Arrested Development. Or the same kind of banter, and dysfunctional character relationships as Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Ultimately, we want to be a unique television show while drawing inspirations from other shows.

Why would you use the money for?

We know that film and television are a passionate media and that people will work for free to create something they truly love. My business partner and I are fine with this, but the same shouldn't be asked for our amazing cast and crew who have shown dedication and passion day after day. So, the primary bulk of what we raise will be going towards paying our wonderful cast and crew. Beyond this we would like to put some towards transport, marketing, and festival submissions.

Directors Statement

Apologizes, this is ripped of our IndieGoGo campaign, as much of the stuff on this page, but I believe the Director did a bang up job describing what we are looking to do.

Our ideas have always and will continue to be conundrum-causing. We don’t think in simple terms, and we don’t come up with basic ideas. Too many years of being screen-junkies during the blockbuster and Saturday morning cartoon era have ruined that possibility for good. That said, we don’t have buttloads of money. But we don’t think that should hold anybody back from conceiving outlandish and un-ordinary notions and dreaming of otherworldly scenarios to put on film. ‘Mythfits’ is a show that aspires to capture that reckless and pretension-free spirit of adventure within all of us, the kid that would wake up early to watch cartoons, who would run around in the backyard pretending to be all sorts of fantastical things. That kid didn’t need millions of dollars and top of the line CGI to feel immersed, and we believe that if our show can’t replicate that sensation, we’re doing it wrong. We aren’t millionaires, or CGI-prodigies, or bearded bacon-eating frat boys. At the end of the day, we’re still just those kids. Our sticks and rocks and trees have turned into cameras and dollies and boom mics. But our goal in life has remained more or less the same: to get out there and play.

So with all that said, here is our campaign page. Please have a glance around and if you really are smitten with our idea or zeal, please pass around the link and contribute anyway you can. Have a great day!

'Cuz it's KILLIN' ME!
Y'know what, I am actually willing to give this the benefit of the doubt, because it seems like a decent enough concept, but you are really, really setting yourslf up for something generic when you have potential for something decent. (Or "better than it has any right to be.")

Based off of just skimming that description, please, please please, ditch the "sensible responsible girl who leads the wacky boys" trope. Go see the movie Neighbors for an explanation why this is annoying and why it's so funny to see it broken. It's also seriously short-changing your female actress, and saying you don't want to bother really writing a female character, so you're giving her the straight-man role, because that's easy to write.

The one thing that's going to save this is by making us really care about these characters. You've already reduced them to basically one-note jokes in your decriptions, so to keep this from going stale, you need to push the character development very fast. Android-wants-to-be-an-actor is a gag which could possibly only be funny one or two times. For example, is the unicorn gay? Is that the big secret? Then just make him gay. Maybe all unicorns are gay. Whatever. Maybe everyone knows already. "Gay unicorn overcompensating by muscledom-broness" is a little funny. "Unicorn comes out as gay, but is ALSO actually just a muscledom-bro" is very funny. (I'm totally guessing here, by the way.)

My point is, if you want people to care about this, you really need to put some thought into how you want these characters to come across, and you need to make people feel that very soon. I'd recommend checking out pretty much anything Phil Lord and Chris Miller have done, but especially Clone High, to see how it's possible to take characters who could be one-joke into more developed people.

Also, holy crap, someone needs to re-write that PR blurb. Do NOT do the whole "We're just kids playing with sticks" thing. It issuper-pretentious.

Hey!

Thanks so much for the feedback. I agree completely with Tessa, as she is totally an independent person with agency and we prefer a strong woman character. Shows like Orange is the New Black and Orphan Black make a case that this can be successful, regardless of the amount of sexism in the industry. We only said that because in the pilot it is hard to showcase her because of the stretch of the imagination that is required with the characters. So we have to set them up before we set Tessa up. In the second episode we have thought out, she is portrayed throughout, and has a larger role. I will go back and flesh out her character bio. The straight man role exists because she is the only human and we need a gateway character.

We are thinking of making Farrokhzad a woman, because of wish fulfillment and how they have been pigeonholed into a role, when they are so much more then that. Also we will take away the pretentious aspect of the directors statement.

Thanks again for all the feed back, its been really helpful. Also, no the unicorn is not gay, that would be pretty generic and on the nose. Android wants to be an actor and wants to be such but cannot express emotion is the surface level analysis. But in actually it plays with the idea of the manufactured sitcom and Hollywood star, who is only the titular character because he is essentially white. But with Cymon there is more that we are going to explore. The article by Salon called Godzilla and Hollywoods boring white guy problem, discusses this really well.

See, this gives me hope, it seems like you guys actually kinda know what you're doing. I'm interested in this project a little more now.

We are Canadian and much of these show takes up the idea of the cultural mosaic we believe that we are. The unicorn while white is portrayed by a half Polish-half Pakistani individual. Farrokhzad (me), is Iranian and the tyrannical director is not white either, "hint-hint". While the people of this world we introduce is white, Cymon and Tessa. So the show is about refugees and immigrants, the hardships they endure and what they have to do to fit in.

A short film I wrote is playing in the local film festival in about two weeks, and the director put together a trailer for it, so I thought I would share it here.
It's called The Solipsist, and it's a science-fictiony romance type thing.
http://vimeo.com/98274802
If you're in Saint Louis, and have nothing to do on July 16th, come check it out.
We're planning on finding other festivals to submit it to, so if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

I also have another one I wrote, by a different director, showing in the same shorts program, but there aren't any promotional materials out for it I can share.

Here's a thing I directed for this years 48 Hour Film Festival. It's got a lot of issues due to being written, shot, and edited in two days, but it was a fun time and we won "Best Use of Line." I don't think I would do it again however as with the cost of registering, the showings, and getting into the awards stuff I'm pretty sure I could have afforded to make a better film over a longer time frame.

Howdy thread,

A buddy of mine made a short documentary that recently won a Heartland Emmy. He just recently made it public, and I felt CD would enjoy it. I told him I was going to post it here and share any comments about the film with him.

My buddy Jay posted:

Hello,
This is Jay Sheldon and Jason Gwynn, Co-Directors of the Emmy Award Winning short documentary Going Dark: The Final Days of Film Projection. We wanted to invite you to watch our 15 minute movie about the death of 35mm film projection here: https://vimeo.com/101235645

This short doc was shot back in October of 2012 over the course of a month at Penn Square Mall in Oklahoma City, OK. This has been a passion project from the beginning for Jason and I. We are so thankful for the time we were able to spend up in the projection booth learning about the process during the making of this film. While we are grateful for the cost effective options the digital format has provided us as filmmakers, we have a deep appreciation for 35mm.

As kids, we looked forward to a weekend at the local theater, not simply watching movies, but also experiencing them. There is a certain magical quality about watching a film in a movie theater. While a large screen created the magic for some, for others it was the flickering light from the projection booth. For us, and many others with whom we have spoken, it was the sound of film running through the projector as a movie settled on a quiet moment. As theaters are forced to convert from film to digital projection, the movie going experience is changing.

For most, the conversion will come and go unnoticed. For the film projectionists who have spent years in dark projection booths splicing reels and threading projectors, it’s a difficult end to an era as film projection is slowly disappearing from theaters around the world. We want to share their story and process with the millions of movie-goers who might not recognize why this is such a significant moment in time.

We hope you enjoy the film! Please let us know what you think, and we'll be happy to answer any questions you may have. We're excited to finally have the film online for anyone to watch. We appreciate any help you can give to get the word out!

Are you alive?
This isn't my film but it's a friend of mine and I worked on her last short film which was great. The short summary is that it's a documentary where the Megan is retracing the bicycle journey across Ireland that her deceased father made and extensively journaled about back in the 70's, on his original bike no less. She's actually in Ireland shooting right now, and the campaign only has a bit over a week left so we're trying to make the final push to reach the campaign goal. Even just clicking on the link helps the campaign "trend" and therefore more people see it, so anything is appreciated. Thanks for checking it out!

A girl broken, her dead parents, a lost & found journal, an old bike, Ireland & a little redemption

'Cuz it's KILLIN' ME!
I'm going to pimp a kickstarter set up by a very close friend of mine from college. It's a short film about zombies (stay with me here) minus the zombies. It's essentially the story of what happens AFTER the zombies are destroyed, the human population has been decimated, people are trying to get back to their lives, but they're still paranoid, ready to shoot at will, and afraid that everyone they meet can still be carriers. Expect political parallels.

Jacob is a good friend of mine, and a talented director and I did some notes on some VERY early stages of the script several years ago, he's been working on this passion project for a long time. The nice thing is that the film is already made, principal photography is done, he's looking for some funding so he can hire professionals to do the visual effects and sound design. He's probably not going to make the goal, but I'm going to push this anyway:

Here's the Kickstarter, skip to about 1:30 to see footage from the film itself.

I just finished working on the first episode of a series I've been working on for some time now. It's a documentary series of sorts called "No Small Parts," and it's about character actors. The first episode focuses on Anne Ramsey, known for playing Mama Fratelli in The Goonies and Mrs. Lift in Throw Momma From The Train. Any criticism is appreciated.

Just popping in to say I just watched the Vincent Schiavelli episode and it was fantastic! This is really great stuff, and the research you put into it really shows in the final product. I will definitely be seeking out that documentary now.

I don't think this thread works very well, compared to individual threads that live or die on their own merits. No Small Parts is the only thing with any substantial amount of replies, and a big part of that was it being posted about in General Chat. Which, at this point, is probably a better place to self-promote. Am I alone in thinking this?

I know now why you Cuddle. But it's something I can never do.
Me and some friends have been shooting some hopefully comedic shorts of one off jokes that we can come up with. This is the first filming experience any of us have and we're trying to figure out what direction we really go with it. We want to get some viewpoints from people outside our circle of friends and family on how some of this holds up.

the series is titled, "Just Another Day" and the basic premise is three moronic guys going through every day situations and through their personalities it gets out of hand.

This is one of the three shorts we have shot and uploaded as of this moment along side 2 others. :nws: for language
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLnZMdu0O9k

With no experience at all we're looking for any advice or criticism we can get.

Is The Divine Comedy coming to film? It depends on you!

A small production company out of Upstate/Central New York called Yellow House are taking on the challenge of bringing The Divine Comedy to film. You've seen the cartoons and video game adaption tie-ins, but none of the films based on Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy quite cut it for an accurate portrayal of the events, locations, and characters that readers have grown to love over the centuries. Fans of the material have been begging for Hollywood’s take on the classic Italian poem since the dawn of cinema, however, time and time again they have been left empty handed. Until now!

This will not be an animated feature or documentary. We are creating a Drama/Adventure that "wows" the audience with our representation of this beloved tale. This will be a live-action, all out “in your face”, portrayal of Dante's journey. A journey fueled by his love for Beatrice while being led through the depths of hell by the seemingly all-knowing Virgil.

We title our project simply enough... Dante.

Many different artists from all over the north east volunteering their time and skills to bring this film to life. We are creating this from the ground up. No pre-made special effects packages or sounds from a a sound bank are being used in this film. All of the work is original, and that is why we need your help.

Please take a look at our Kickstarter and decide if this is a project you would like to support.

We've submitted the whole thing to some film festivals and are waiting to hear back. Thoughts?

I guess I could. And yes, definitely aware of his history on SA. I already got approval to start a thread about my "No Small Parts" series, I could ask for this one too. I'm thinking I should wait until we release the full film on YouTube to do that, though.

The documentary is a short, about 26 minutes long. Our goal with it is to get some amount of funding and make a full-length.

It's called M.U.F.F , it is a six part comedy series written by Daniel Sloss and Tom Stade. We're releasing it for free on the internet, but we need money to get it off the ground.

Any donations are welcome, if you can't then you'll still get to enjoy the series when it comes out. Thanks!

Oh hi, Greg.
I don't have a lot of time to respond to questions right now but I want to put in a plug for my very dear friends' Kickstarter, live as of this morning. These are wonderful, smart, successful, talented artists (actors) who are taking a HUGE leap and writing/directing/producing their own feature. They're some of my closest and most intimate friends and I have hardly spoken to them or seen them in many months, they've been so consumed with this project. The film has been shot and needs finishing.

It's called The Blood Stripe and it's about a Marine vet dealing with PTSD.

Please go check out the teaser!

My nephew's movie. He got funding through kickstarter. I think he had to kick some of his own money to get it to fly though.

It's funny and well edited. The FX are pretty darn good. I'm not very impartial though.

I posted this in CC last week, but just discovered this thread so thought I'd share here.

"I have a surprise for you." is a short horror/comedy created over a single weekend by a team of professionals - largely people who work below the line who wanted to take a crack at working above the line. Aside from owned/borrowed equipment, the budget was essentially non-existent. This was my first time directing a non-commercial production, and we've been getting a pretty good response and are submitting to local and genre festivals. I'd love to hear people's feedback.

Log line: Julie's new roommate has a surprise in store for her... and she's convinced it's murder!

I have a surprise for you.
