This isn't really MINE per-say, but I am helping out on it as Assistant Director and am friends with the producer, writer, and director. It's a sci-fi drama short that they're working on for their final project at film school and are trying to raise a bit of money for. Figured I'd help them out a bit and post this here, it's one of the better put together of these at least from our school, as the producer knows what the hell she's doing. By the way, it's flexible funding because no matter what it's going to get made, but the higher the budget the better the final product will be. Tuition covers paying the actors and most gear, but while we've got a pretty good selection available to us from the school most projects end up spending at least a few hundreds getting additional stuff from rental houses. And the school doesn't help pay for props, costuming, locations, or any of that. If you could take a look at it I'm sure they'd all be pretty grateful. In the near future they're going to shoot an in universe commercial that will be added to the pitch video, but all they have right now is your standard "interviews with the crew" thing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlkeuTlGKrQ A Reader IndieGoGo

From the Dorkside posted:Hello Everyone, my friend and fellow filmmaker Roy Berkeley has recently launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise money for a short he's trying to shoot in the fall. It is an anthology horror movie which focuses on a young woman who discovers a mysterious movie viewing device that has the unfortunate side effect of altering her perception of reality. Is there any chance of changing this to be a sequel to Playmate of the Apes, my personal favorite Misty Mundae film?

I was also kind of curious about this, but didn't want to sound like the total rear end in a top hat I am by asking it.

Here's a thing I directed for this years 48 Hour Film Festival. It's got a lot of issues due to being written, shot, and edited in two days, but it was a fun time and we won "Best Use of Line." I don't think I would do it again however as with the cost of registering, the showings, and getting into the awards stuff I'm pretty sure I could have afforded to make a better film over a longer time frame. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfd0rsl_GcA

Zombie Raptor posted:I was wondering, is there such a thing as a crowdfunding site for particularly smaller-scale short film projects? I am aware of Stage 32 and JuntoBox and so on and so forth, but those sites/communities tend to work much like Kickstarter, in that the projects' target budgets are usually at least $500 and up. The short I am currently working on is a production that, even when factoring in having extra in case of emergencies, only needs a maximum of, like, $150 more before the target budget is fully realized. I realize that's a minuscule amount of money to ask the Internet for help with to most folks, and seems like a tiny budget, but the actual case is that everyone involved in the project has already put in every bit that they can afford, and now we're at this weird spot with the budget where we're nearly nothing away from having it funded, but can't start shooting until we get over this last hump and can rent all the equipment and secure some more music. On every project I've worked on where we've ended up only needing a relatively small amount of money like that, me or another crew member has ended up asking our immediate relatives for a loan for a while. My parents for instance usually were pretty cool about things like that as long as they got paid back in a reasonable time. But you may have already exhausted this, or just don't have that option available. Even if you did something on KS or IGG or what not with that amount, you could still post it around asking for the money, just explain the situation in your pitch there like you did here. Maybe even make a funny pitch video using the weird situation you're in as material for it.
