As someone who skiped WCIII entirely and is mediocre at best at WCII (I can make it through the campaign, barely, and usually with the help of cheat codes after you rescue Zul'Jinn/the alliance archer (can you tell which side of the campaign i played most frequently?)) and RTS games in general, is it worth it to pick up WCIII? I failed miserably at SCII when i tried the trial of that, and while i love mucking about killing poo poo, WCIII came out at the awkard time when i was responsible for my own money but not quite old enough to work and didn't really have $40 to drop on it when i sucked at its prequels. It came down to that or Diablo II, and i picked D2, and did much better with that one. But now that it's only $20, that i'll have next paycheck, and I've kicked around the idea of getting it every time i go and get curbstomped by the comps in WCII (since no one actually plays it anymore) but at the same time, i don't want a game where i'm just going to get my rear end kicked time and time again. Worth it if you suck at RTS's, given all the custom poo poo?

Sharzak posted:If you are paycheck to paycheck budgeting for video games you could do a lot better with your $20 than Warcraft 3 I blew my entire fun money budget for Semptember buying concert tickets. But video games are just such a small fraction of my fun money and fun time these days i usually continually put off buying them because I know I'm not going to have time to play em. And I really only tend to buy sandboxy games these days because I know I don't have a lot of gaming time and I'd rather gently caress around in a sandboxy thing for a few hours than try to remember where i am in a story what i'm doing, why i'm doing it, etc. I still play a lot of Warcraft II as much as I suck at it because it's a fun way to sink a few hours with the custom maps. I usually die horribly, but it's still fun. So if War III has a decent campaign that's still fun with cheats cause I suck, quick enough to get through that i can make it through without forgetting whats going on, and a bunch of stuff to do with custom content, it's definitely worth it for me, cause that's $20 that I'll keep coming back to for various things every now and then when the mood strikes and I have some time to kill. If War III has a bunch of decent custom things to play against the computer, then it's worth it.
