xanthan posted:So if I read this right everyone is a mage, just not in conscious control of what they do and thus not a capital M Mage. Because they can't control it it just defaults to reinforcing what they believe, hence paradox where their magic bitch slaps someone trying to use magic to go against what they believe. In a nutshell. I'm sure yet another person who knows more about metaphysics of Mage explains it even more in-depth, my knowledge comes from just wiki-diving and stuff.

Was that Methuselah of the Old Clan with... Dominate was it, instead of Vicissitude? They certainly got the noble attitude. Technocracy has at least some foundation in "stabilizing" the world, and probably also for dealing with rampart Mages such as Nephandi and Marauders - servants of Abyss and insane Mages who manifest any Paradox in their environment instead of being slapped, somewhat like Witches in Puella Magi, respectively. At some point it started taking proactive approach with "Reality Deviants" which includes any Mage anywhere. There's the central conflict titled as Reality War or somesuch, don't recall the exact term. It's also full of internal politics, which caused at least Virtual Adepts and Sons of Ether to switch sides.

And they sort of majorly pissed off Tzimisce at their creation, after they drained a Methuselah of clan in question. Saulot isn't that relevant, since only 7 remain in modern times - libel campaign and all that within Camarilla. So they probably buddied-up with Camarilla to have meatshields and security in case Fiends ever decided to pay back, in addition to providing that magic niche.

So if I got this right, Marauders are at best "point them at those guys" kind of deal if Mage/faction in question finds them at least beneficial in some way. Do either side of Ascension War have dedicated Nephandi/Marauder Task Force, or are they under the generic purview of respective internal police who then call higher-ups if they happen to bump into one?

Powergamer would theoretically go "stake me for 40 days and nights, pull it out after", and have Yahweh/ST still ash him for not having redeemed themselves. If someone actually pulled it like that, I'd love to see their reaction.

Exactly what effects? There's that Vandal issue where you can tell sickest possible story at really low and keep the blood going... But I also tend to keep it high, just in case I never frenzy. And Torries with the double gain/loss make it pretty easy.

Go thin enough and those are about as much as irritations. It's something like 15th or so, where you barely qualify as a vampire anyway.

Revenants(?) are are just result of breeding ghouls for generations until the traits stick, as I recall. But generalizing Sabbat precursors and shovelheads, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled something like that.

Is the "we were reality-warping Mages centuries ago" bit of background kept tight in upper layers of the Pyramid then, with only founders and their immediate members? Because Tremere don't seem the kind of people to just wipe out information, even if it's huge embarrassment to their legitimacy as vampires.

Gunbunny Toreador has that pretty easy, but I just cheese the Vozhd(?) with SPAS. The fatties fall to one clip of Uzi or whatever Wesp has renamed it. It's just tedious and still annoying with the labyrinth level.

Do some sidequests for the glorious B I do find the Toreador-specific (or is it the only available even) response somewhat odd, when Gary is relatively handsome compared to Bertram Tung.

Figuring you'll handle Chinatown in next update, I'll provide a little request (possible spoilers): In one playthrough I managed to ask Ming-Xiao about California and Cathayan in Santa Monica, but not in following runs. If you'd go through possible dialogue paths and see if that exists anymore.

And explaining Kuei-Jin in relative terms to other splats is that they are Risen from Wraith. Exalted also uses the Hun/P'o distinction from Chinese theology and KoE, further driving the abandoned backstory metaplot.

And very high Arete and/or Sphere Mages, who start suffering from ambient Paradox. No idea if it's an enforced rule or way around "there is a literal God around somewhere, and you can talk to them" problem that might come from fluff.

I *think* all WW games use the Resource system - more dots you have, wealthier you are et cetera. Regardless, mundane stuff like shotguns is very much easier on the Masquerade than anything suspect like pointing at person and they keel over.

Last time I played, that string melody was with any katana or related, which at that point meant the shin gunto from Cathayan or katana proper - game ran into the nice cache bug from plus patch trying to get Kiki out. Are you open to any "true" ending, or are you leaving out obviously stupid ones like trusting Sebastian and Ming-Xiao?

Tossing out two votes here, and pick whichever fits better Strauss - as pretty much everyone has said, he's played it straight with us all the time and regardless of possible allies, Melissa is still of clan Ventrue and deep down probably prefers organization where she can gather practical power as opposed to Anarch approach of trading boons. gently caress everything 2 - that dangerously low humanity could lead to conclusion of "gently caress it, I'm going to get some power here and now". And odds of an Antediluvian being there outweigh any risk of backfiring.

While on ghouls, do they inherit any traits from their domitor? Knox mentions something about rash, Malkavian Heather goes somewhat crazy and Romero is seemingly good shot (as presumably Isaac's ghoul). Is that aspect of VtM proper, and how intense is it?

That may have prompted the Caine hosed off to a cave, Beckett found him, blablala "canon" of Gehenna. And the Methuselah theory has been posted here already.

You can call LaCroix out on the alliance and he responds with something like "yes it's true, but it's water under the bridge now". One of the alternate endings for Melissa also shows how desperate LaCroix is, though even that may be just disguising personal hunger. Relating to escape chat, what are the other ways PC could escape? I presume in tabletop Gangrel could turn into bat and fly away, but are Celerity dots here enough to run down the wall?

It was some WoD goon who posted about Assamites in this thread. Baali cursed them first with that appetite, Tremere came in later. Ur-Shulgi woke up, went "lolnope" at Tremere but because Baali were around his time, that curse is much harder to break.
