Racing season is about to end, which means it's time to groan with sadness/apathy that there won't be any professional cars going fast around closed courses until the end of January. Many racing goons will probably go through withdrawls because WE HAVE NEEDS TOO, DAMNIT. Fortunately, thanks to the magic of the internet and YouTube and ingenuity of racin' goons, we found a way last season to kill time to handle the doldrums of winter. So, here for a second season, it's what we'd unofficially called SASCAR Winter Heat. What is this? We set up a Synchtube channel last year and streamed a variety of racing-related videos. The options seemed endless, with ideas coming in from left and right. The more random, the better. If you're new to what we're doing, think SPEED Channel, but with more "racing" and less "HAHD PAHTS SAUTH BRANX" and Xzibit saying "YO DAWG, I HEARD YOU LIKE ________...". Why do you call it Winter Heat? That sounds like porn. The name's shamelessly borrowed from ESPN back in the days where they actually liked racing and went out of their way to find racing to show in the winter. I'm just paying homage to our overlords at The Worldwide Leader. What do you watch? -Old NASCAR, including the hilarity that was Goody's Dash -Old CART/IRL -IROC -ARCA -GATR (the racing series that raced semi cabs ) -Sports car racing -World of Outlaws/USAC -Racing-related documentary/human interest shows, like Thrills and Spills (We had a NASCAR Drivers 360 night last year. Never did get to Jeremy Mayfield's Homemade Airboat, which may be a case study into why he's not in NASCAR anymore.) -Obscure regional racing series on short tracks, be they paved or of the dirt variety. -Demolition derbies -Your local Friday/Saturday night show -Racing movies (found on YouTube). We still need to watch Six Pack. ...basically anything that is entertaining, retro, and/or is better than the racing we see today. I'm thinking we need to add in Robby Gordon's stadium truck series this year, which is fun but nobody ever remembers is on. How does it work? BMB5150 had a set time and night for NASCAR Drivers 360 last year. FuzzySkinner had suggested theme nights. Or, if you're bored and want to kill some time, post in here with an idea and people might show up. I'd need help figuring out which video sharing sites are the best, since I guess Synchtube is gone, but I'd definitely be down for this & we'd gotten some interest in the NASCAR thread and #nascar. e- LINKS SASCAR CyTube Channel: http://cytu.be/r/SASCARWinterHeat Cubey plays NASCAR games!: http://www.twitch.tv/cannotfindserver NEW: Fag Boy Jim/Alain Post's Livestream: http://www.livestream.com/sascartv The LASTCAR (NASCAR Racing 1999) Fantasy Series: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjZQnMo0uMCHnDXHJRK9b6Js7Th6eAEa3 e2- No flamewars, god damnit. My netbook was low on battery last night and the AC adapter decided to not work. Then I gave up and went to bed. I'll have to look the old TNN video up to get all sentimental about old commercials.

I'm going in now. See if anybody's put up my local track's action on YouTube. e- Watching Winter Heat is educational! Things we learned from the 1973 Indy 500: -80 mph pace laps are unsafe, so "LET'S DO THEM AT 100" -We still had a man standing on the pit wall at the Indy 500 to wave the flag four years after we landed on the Moon. We could figure out how to make "One small step for man", but didn't pick up on the fact that "One false step could get you run over by racecars". -Indy racing in the '70s was as scary as I thought it would be. -The best place to park a fire truck after a car has slammed the wall and exploded is to park the truck DIRECTLY ON THE loving STRIPE OF FUEL THE CAR LEFT WHILE FIRE IS BURNING. -Chris Economaki, like Mark Martin and Q from the James Bond series, was always old. -ABC could only afford one microphone for the booth and three cameras. They also couldn't figure out that putting your announcers up against a green screen with a bouncing shot of the track in the back was distracting. -God can say "You know what, enough is enough" when it comes to races. The three trips to Japan for NASCAR are on YouTube, but I don't know if '96's TBS feed was ever added or if it's still the Japanese one. Those might be worth a watch at some point, especially for the bizarre one-off driver combinations. I watched a little of '97's pre-race show last night. Kenny Wallace and Kenny Irwin DORIFTUUUUU and Dale Earnhardt being interviewed by a Japanese man are among the highlights.

Still mad Gordon decided to get hooked by Marlin, he had that race in the bag since no one could pass him and the DEI cars were taken care of... well except Michael. And Michael was offed about 10 seconds before Gordon turned himself around off Marlin's bumper.
