For people having issues with mages, the polymorph spell allows you to turn into a Mustard Jelly. Mustard Jelly has 100% magic resistance. Shapeshift, jelly over to the mage and go afk a couple minutes. Works really, really, really far into ToB as well. Just gotta be careful around stuff that slings imprison.

The Imp familiar Lawful Evil mages get is pretty drat ridiculous because of this. It has Polymorph from Level 1. I just started a solo wild mage run and that little fella makes every fight against a caster a joke.

Quick question: I want to multiclass a Berserker/Druid through the entire series, starting in BG. When would be a good level to switch over from Berserker? I've seen people say 7 but I'm not entirely sure why. Grandmastery is at 9, right? Is it worth giving that up?

Do you mean dual class? Multiclasses gain levels in both classes they have and you can't have a specialist kit in a multiclass. Levels 7-9 are kind of the "sweet spot" for dualing a Berserker. At level 7 you get half an attack a round, at 8 you get an extra daily use of berserk, and at 9 you get the grand mastery pip. It's just a matter of how long you want to wait before getting your fighter levels back. I think level 9 is the best spot to dual, but that's just me. It's not that much more experience and you still get your levels back pretty fast.

Can your alignment actually change in bg1/2? I don't remember. I remember having a game of NWN2 where I was a chaotic good warlock, and then I made too many lawful decisions and wasn't allowed to level up anymore.

No, your alignment is static in BG1/2.

Sounds good, thanks. I'm a noob - any suggestions on weapon proficiencies? Other general tips for this class?

Flails are a favorite for ranger/clerics thanks to the Flail of Ages, which is one of the best weapons in the game. If you are going to dual class instead of multiclassing, make sure you put your proficiency points in weapons a cleric can use. You get free dual wielding from the ranger class, so focus on one handed weapons. Not much else to it. Ranger/clerics are really powerful since they have access to both druid and cleric spells. You get to throw bees at people while calling down holy fire. It's pretty drat fun.

Alright, for IWD2, how do you get the unsupported resolutions to work with windowed mode? Even though my screen's big enough for the 1600x1200 option, I can only use the miniscule 1024x768 one apparently, which is way too small. I don't need widescreen since I prefer to play windowed, but this is too tiny for me.

I'm reasonably sure you can still use the widescreen mod to set your resolution to anything you want, not just a widescreen resolution: http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/
