I'm thinking about buying a tablet. My main wants:

-Large screen
-MicroSD or 32/64GB (microSD seems to be cheaper for memory)
-Something I can watch movies/tv shows on

I don't really care too much for apps or games, I'd probably just use the browser and watch videos. The main use is something to take to the gym while doing cardio if I'm honest. Will any of them be better for my uses than others? Generally I want the best bang for buck and I don't need something that is super powerful. Will I run into any problems watching common video file types? (.avi, .mkv, etc.)

Is it possible to get something decent for $2-300? I've searched around a little and everything seems quite expensive, and I'm a cheap rear end.

Thanks goons.

I need a decent Android tablet/phlablet that's has a screen over 6" (negotiable) with a decent PPI and at least marginally close to standard dimensions (nothing stupidly wide or unreasonably tall), has a built in or very cheap option for being stood up in the portrait orientation (and app support indicative of such).
I don't particularly care about the ROM (or support, hardware and community wise, for flashing a new one) unless it can be modified to solve my main problem (see below). Bluetooth and 5ghz band wifi connectivity are a plus but I wouldn't mind not having either.

It needs to not have a camera. I'm looking for a color E-Reader (or a device that can be adapted for such a purpose) so I can use several e-reader applications with support for various usability features that benefit users with dyslexia and hyperlexia. I work in an office where I'm not allowed to have any device with a camera powered on, and all e-reader devices are inspected to ensure they meet that requirement before they can be used on site.
So far, I have not been able to find anything that justifies it's price w/r/t functionality, storage, and PPI that does not have a camera. If you have an applicable device that has a broken camera, please message me (ask for my email if you don't have PMs) if you have any plans on selling it in the future.

The device cannot be sold as a "game console" (the Shield Portable, for example, was rejected).

Edit:
My budget is < $250, but I will spring for something that piques my interest if it is useful outside of E-Reading (i.e. a shield tablet, but those all currently have cameras)

Nook HD's and Nook HD+'s have high PPI and no camera - you can find both dirt cheap on eBay

iPad 2 is still being supported until next fall (it won't get iOS 10), and that has been around since Spring 2011 - so expect roughly 4 or 5 years of support from the launch date with Apple products

In comparison, Windows 10 tablets are being supported for 10 years, and official android devices by Nexus or Samsung are supported for 1 or 2

So, about 3-4 months ago I bought one of those really cheap, $40-on-sale Kindle Fires as my first tablet, and lo and behold, it's crappy. At the very least, $40 isn't a bad cost for a learning experience.

I'm seeing this pretty-well-reviewed iPad mini 2 for $200 today, which seems like the absolute low-end of what one should expect to spend on a reasonable tablet.

As I'd planned for the Kindle Fire, I really just use a tablet for my work as a tutor- so for websites for research, being able to access my kids' textbook online sites, etc. It's basically there to serve the browser capabilities of my iPhone, just bigger, so there's no squinting necessary. The Kindle failed about 50% of the time in this capacity, as half of the apps I'd need weren't in Amazon's limited library, and I just couldn't access some of the sites I can on my iPhone due to the weird jury-rigged Android that Kindle Fires run (like Go-Math, the textbook most kids use in NYC schools, has a terrible website, but at least I can get to it on my phone).

Also, the Kindle Fire couldn't run Marvel Unlimited, which I just got a subscription to. I'm not planning on ever buying/downloading comics or books on it, just to read them, and I'm not going to have all that many apps besides maybe Facebook, Instagram, and Pandora. Would this 16 GB iPad mini 2 cover those pretty simple-use needs?

Installing the Play Store on the Kindle Fire takes like 3 minutes

My uses would be pretty simple stuff, games like Final Fantasy Record Keeper/Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mostly. Maybe some Hearthstone. A little web browsing on the couch. I'm used to playing these on my iPhone 6s so I'm hoping to get something that won't look notably choppier/worse if that's a potential problem?

I'd like to keep it around $300 CAD or less if possible, cheaper is better of course. For $430 CAD I could buy one of the new iPads.

After a little googling the Nvidia Shield looked great, but it seems to be impossible to find in stock. The Lenovo Tab 4 8" was available on Lenovo's web store a couple days ago, but not the Tab 4 Plus that I really wanted. I'm leaning toward waiting on the Tab 4 Plus being available.

Am I on the right path waiting on the Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus?

Edit: Would the Tab 4 8 regular be sufficient for what I'm looking to do? That $179.99 CAD price is incredible.
