Okay, so the latest death this year is my much loved 2013 Nexus 7 that landed face down on a concrete floor half an hour ago shattering the screen. R.I.P.

Google were rumoured to be bringing out a new version of the N7 (Huawei, I think), but that's amounted to nothing. I take it there's nothing around or coming to be released soon in a 7 or 8 inch Android format?

For anyone in the UK, Currys/PCWorld have the ASUS ZenPad Z500M 9.7" Tablet - 32 GB for £249.99. Both Dark grey & silver colours available.

Personally I'd prefer a smaller tablet.

I don't understand the point of a 7 inchish tablet, like you might as well just use your phone at that point. My surface pro is 10 inches and I would be annoyed having anything smaller, I probably have lovely eyes

I have a Moto Z Play and as good as that screen is, it's really too small to use for any length of time. My Nexus 7 was the best compromise for screen size & portability (for me).

Levono announce the Tab 4 series in two sizes and two spec levels.

The 8" Tab 4 Plus could be my Nexus 7 replacement.

Wow yeah, I could agree there. Just sell my nexus 7 (it's still really minty and it's the 32gb model) for around $100, and pick up this.

Sadly, both of mine were dropped just once too much and the shattered screens are now unresponsive. :smith:

Looking for a Nexus 9 replacement for my Mom, should be no smaller than the Nexus 9 and needs to run Android. Mainly to be used for video watching and light gaming/facebook. Budget is around 400 USD where it looks like to me that the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 would be just about the only decent option? Talking about the 2016 refresh with the Snapdragon 652 SoC here.

I'm still waiting on the Lenovo Tab 4 8 Plus to be available to buy.

This looks interesting, the 10 inch version does at least, hopefully it's not too far out.

Originally the global launch date was for the end of May, but that's quietly slipped. Lenovo Sweden has the 4 (not plus model) 10" for (pre)order with a 3 - 4 week wait.

It's annoying, as I'm ready to buy an 8+ for me & my other half right now.

There's also the newly announced ASUS Zenpad 3 8.0 Z582KL, which gives a bit more choice for people.

Far as I know they do batches of production, so check back in a couple of months. Personally I would hold out for the Lenovo Tab 4 Plus has some decent specs which if it can keep the price point low should be a good buy.

If it ever gets released.

My Dad's original iPad mini is busted, and he can get a direct replacement from Apple for £180. Is there anything around that price range (max £250) that is better for someone who only uses their tablet for web browsing, streaming and reading books?

If he's used to the Apple format, why change?

Is the Lenovo Tab4 8 Plus a reasonable buy for £149? Full HD screen, looks like it should be OK.

Yes, that is. For the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage version is about another £100.

Any point in getting a cheap iPad Mini 4th gen or should I save for a 5th gen?

Recently clearing out some boxes I found my original iPad 1st gen and while it works, I guess it's not going to be good for anything.

Got a hospital stay coming up so thinking of either an iPad mini 5 (refurb) or maybe the Amazon Fire Max 11 for roughly the same price.
The Fire Max is bigger just wonder if it's any good.

The only Fire tablet I've ever used is complete garbage, but this does seem like a significant upgrade from it.

Just using Geekbench scores, the iPad is more than double tho, and unless you want to gently caress around installing the Google Play Store (idk if it's possible on that model), the iPad's app selection will be much better.
