So I figured I'd bite here before I spend on Dxtory. I'm looking for some advice on Hypercam 2. I was running into an issue for a little while where any video I'd record was choppy, looks like that's because I was recording with 10FPS. I tried kicking it up to 60FPS which is what the game I'm recording runs at, but that makes the outcoming video run significantly faster than what's recorded. It's even more obvious because the sound stays at the same pace. It's still choppy but works at 20FPS, anything above that gets sped up. Maybe I'm missing some configuration here? If not, I'll just have to spend my cold hard cash.

Game is running at 60, I pulled a benchmark/trial recording using Dxtory free. It just has a big DXTORY.COM over the video. I tried recording at 30 and it was still sped up past the audio.

So I'm having issues smashing together my audio/video files. I recorded a multiplayer stream with DXtory grabbing video/Skype sounds and recorded my microphone through Audacity. I imported the video audio into Audacity and matched it up, exported that as a FLAC file. I'm trying to mux an MP4 so I can edit/grab frame numbers but I keep getting an error when I'm trying to mux. As far as I can tell the error log from MeGUI is as follows. code:

I guess maybe I'm going about this the wrong way and I'm not real sure what to do. I've got an AVI with all my multiplayer video, sound, and skype chat. I've got a second audacity project with all my own voice on it. I've already pulled the sound from the AVI into audacity and it's matched up to where it needs to be. So I've got an AVI with video that I only want the video from, and I've got a project in Audacity I can export to whatever format I'm looking for. What program/process do I need to be using to take my video and recorded audio into the same AVI so I can wrangle it? edit: eh. I found something that should work well enough. dscruffy1 fucked around with this message at 18:05 on Dec 14, 2013 |

I had some pretty good luck recording with my Logitech A-0374A headset, the problem being that either the microphone or the left ear died on a regular basis between two headsets over about four years. At the moment I'm using CA Beach Audio something or other, the microphone is more sensitive to clicks than the Logitech was which makes using the silence function in Audacity a little tougher when I get clicks mid-word. The audio is also significantly low on the left ear as compared to the right, almost non-existent. It's good enough for what I'm doing, but I'm looking for something better.

Fortunately the Hauppauge Capture software with the "StreamEez" functionality is Good Enough for the time being. Still can't record PS3 HDMI. That's some poo poo. Anyway, Hauppauge says their box does its own encoding. Any idea what the quality of the encoding is? I imagine it's not lossless but it's more than likely it's still Good Enough.

I'm doing something wrong and I don't know what. I'm trying to put subtitles on a video. I made the MP4s through MeGUI, and I made the subtitles through Aegisub. Exported the subtitles to TTXT, muxed the MP4 same as always, except my video doesn't come out. MeGUI doesn't even give me a substantial error, just says "Process exits with error: 1". I tried exporting the subtitles to SRT, which shows up on the muxed version and gives me an output video, but it looks like poo poo. What's a better process/what am I missing here? Because I'm almost positive there has to be a better process. e: Figured out a workaround with HTML tags. dscruffy1 fucked around with this message at 10:16 on May 22, 2014 |

So I've got a weird thing. I'm editing 60FPS stuff and I use Virtualdub to grab frame numbers for Avisynth and then to spot check the script, but Virtualdub kinda chugs when watching 60FPS. It doesn't happen when I watch the videos in MPC but I get A/V stuttering and it takes longer to play each second. One second maybe takes a second and a half. It's nothing critical but it's kinda irritating and I'd like to fix it if I can.

So I'm looking for an AVS script to play a portion of a video in reverse in slow motion. Hopefully something that would reverse the audio as well for that portion, there's a subliminal message I want to record. The only thing I'm familiar with is doing fast motion, so I'm pretty sure it's just the reverse of that for that portion. Everything else I'm not so sure on.

So I want to make a custom Megaman boss intro screen and splice it into my LP at the start of a video. I can get the audio portion done no problem, my issue is figuring out how to do the video part. I've already made a super pro sprite in MSPaint but I'm not clear on how to do the rest of it. Maybe editing individual frames of a GIF and inserting that through Avisynth? Is that a thing?

Figured it out, it required a lot of screwing with color conversions and learning new programs. Went with a series of layered images instead of the animated gif, had a nice learning experience today. I'd remembered seeing that link before but this was the first time I really dug into it.

So I'm capturing an mp4 with an elgato and my usual method of screwing around with editing in avisynth isn't working so far. How do I load up an MP4 so it'll be read by avisynth? Is there a specific filter I should have to get directshowsource to take it? I also looked briefly at ffmpegsource but I can't actually figure out how to get that plugin off of github. edit: Not using directshowsource I guess, downloaded the filter at the bottom of the ADVICE post but still can't get ffmpegsource to work. I got it figured out. Apparently ffmpegsource2 requires an additional modifer at the end of the command. I wound up using clip1=FFmpegSource2("[video location]",atrack=-1) Gives me what I'm used to working with.

So I'm running into a problem with an Elgato HD capturing from a PS4. I recorded about 55 minutes of gameplay but the last 15 minutes are gross and corrupted. It's not a problem with a lack of hard drive space and I wasn't doing anything else on the PC at the time. I'm looking at the .ts files and I can open up the first two just fine, but the last one won't open. In the preview and in the exported MP4 it's moving about twice and fast and the audio is inconsistent and not synched at all, complete with screen tearing and jagged edges everywhere. Any ideas on what causes this and how I can fix it?

I've worked with both dissolve and fadein/fadeout/fadeio and mostly using the fades for fading to black but they can work together. If you've got your heart set on dissolve just set your Trim functions between commas, no need for the ++ inside the function. For instance. code:
You can have as many trim functions as you want inside the dissolve function but your last bit (the , 60) has to be the number of frames you want it to take to fully transition. Like I said, you can do fades and dissolves together but I believe the fade command has to come first. Might be the other way around but one way it'll work, the other way won't.

Yeah, if I was to guess you need to put your crop before your dissolve. I haven't done much with crop. However this: dissolve(trim(a, 1376, 0), trim(b, 60, 0), 40) Should be correct and should start you at 1376 frames into clip a, go to the end, and then fade into clip b over 40 frames. Assuming that's what you're looking for. I think lobster's got this poo poo on lock though.

This video is the first one I recorded. The audio is desynced and it hits the weird jumble of video corruption at around 42:30. This is a second video I recorded yesterday, but this one has a different problem. The video is mostly intact aside from some jumping around but past 31:30 it just completely dumps the audio. The only thing I've got in common between these two is that they both hit the weirdness in the same area in the game but that just means it might happen somewhere else down the line and I'd really prefer to get it figured out. Has anyone else run into this problem and found something around it?

The installer for the non-GOTY version is 16-bit, the game itself is 32-bit, so the installer doesn't want to work on 64 bit systems. The installer in the GOTY version works on 64-bit systems. I was able to grab a 64-bit installer and do some DirectX and resolution screwing around. Also needed to grab a no-CD .exe because of the lack of SecuRom on Windows 10.
