Holy hell this is amazing. The variety of bad rear end cars you get to work on... A few things. 1. Is that a fuckin' dana 44 center section I spy in the XJS? What exactly were they thinking? 2. I hate to be a pedant, but there's no such thing as grade 8 metric hardware. It's either ISO property class 8.8 (cheese, about the same strength as a grade 5) metric hardware or grade 8 SAE hardware. If it's metric threads and you need grade 8 strength, grab yourself some 10.9s or 12.9s. 3. Describe the issue with the M42 in more detail if you would... I don't know BMW EFI that well (if at all) but know my way around a few other makes and can truthfully claim to have solved a multi-year e21 electrical system nightmare within 5 minutes of looking at it. It was really simple, though, just needed a fresh set of eyes kastein fucked around with this message at 07:36 on Dec 30, 2013 |

It almost sounds like a corroded/flaky wiring harness but here's hoping it isn't.

The hub rotor setup or the MAF? Rotors inside the hub flange results in a shorter rotor hat holding all other specs the same, which technically is superior because it allows the same thickness rotor hat walls to handle more force, or thinner walls to handle the same force. It's just a bastard to work on.

I was going to say, the true meaning of mechanics shame is if you're working on the back of a geo metro and it falls on you, and you can't bench press it back onto the jackstands. The front is a tad heavier.
