The S85 V10 while producing 500hp only made 384lb-ft just 15 more than the previous generation M5's S62 V8. I would have expected them to squeeze more juice out of the old BMW F1 parts bin. You also have to futz around in the iDrive to get all 500 hp. It's normally tuned down to 400 unless you navigate through a bunch of menus and bump it up. I imagine many people either won't know or won't bother.
