This one isn't technically ESL, but it's in the theme of language students loving up. My mother teaches Farsi and has lots of stories like these, but there's one that I always remember. (When trying to say that he comes from England) "I come from the land of bubbling poo poo" It turns out that in Farsi, "England" is "Ahngelestan" and "bubbling-poo poo land" is "Angoulestan". Both are pretty rough transliterations because I don't actually speak Farsi myself
