~OKAY, WE'LL DRINK TO OUR LEGS!~

Caught someone clipping a cyclist during the blue hour a couple of weeks ago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZ3YDYQTt-Q
Dude was okay, or at least ambulatory and coherent. The car just clipped his pedal.

Mostly been using the dashcam to timelapse driving videos though:

Not to victim blame too much, but that guy was practically invisible.

Funny thing: the driver said "I didn't see your light" and I didn't think he HAD a light until I pulled the video and saw it. It's way more visible in the video than it was in real life.

This is neat, but have you played around with even higher compression ratios to make the timelapse itself shorter? I know you're not trying to show this off as something you want everyone to watch but if you drop it down to something like 2-4 minutes, people could actually watch the whole thing. 15 minutes is a really long time for something like this.

Yep; problem is on longer several-hundred-mile drives, it gets sort of incomprehensible to look at. Driving to DC compressed down to 5 minutes nicely using my older shittier dashcam.

This is cool, really soothing with smooth roads. I've been meaning to do more of these too. Here's one I did a few years back in the largest jeep convoy I've ever been in (too big). Part of the Mojave Trail from morning to night in heavily compressed, jarring 720p. It doesn't work as well as smooth roads and it's sped up too much probably: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEV7gLSkrmE

Seems pretty stable for me, given the terrain; you run a GPS track during that? I'm a sucker for off-road GPS tracks.

I used to use a compact camcorder on a weird suction cup/1/4" thread screw mount that was pretty shaky. I post this partly as example, partly because it's probably the raddest city entrance in the country

I had the windshield replaced in my truck, so I'm having to install a new mount for my A119. The old one's adhesive was pretty gnarly after removal, and the replacements were cheap enough on Amazon to where I just ordered another GPS mount. I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to wire it into the truck's power supply, since I have no trim that I can hide the cables under.

I also received one of these youtube comments on that dashcam crash I recorded a few months ago. Has anyone had any interaction with these types?

I'm tempted to send the e-mail to see what happens.

I was flooded with them despite the video being private (I had shared it in /r/roadcams). I ignored them.

Not sure what the gently caress was going on here. Though it is nice to hear my two year old cheer me on when I call him an idiot.

Speaking of weird poo poo, I did not have my dashcam in the day I was driving up I-95 and saw a car pulled over to the side of the freeway. As I came up on it, the door open, a man stepped one foot out, and an amazing parabolic arc of vomit shot out of his mouth. My biggest dashcam regret.

Roav (by Anker) dashcams come with a permanent windshield mount with 3M's best tape. The mount was so good that I couldn't get it removed from my old car (they sent me a new suction cup mount that's good, but not as good, but it was free upon request).

.... currently fighting with them over a warranty replacement though. Never had an issue with any other Anker product, they're giving a lot of push back on this (battery is all but dead and less than a year old).

Weird. I sent them an email a week and a half ago saying my battery had swelled and the screen would pop out. After requesting a photo, they said "fuckit, have a brand new unit and don't bother sending the old one back"

My first 4 months was full of lovely drivers. The subsequent two years have had very little and now I mostly just save lightning strikes and getting buzzed by treetop-level helicopters.

The only think of interest I've seen in the last year or so of having a dashcam was seeing the driver in front of me stop at a red light, then crack open their door and vomit onto the road, before shutting the door and continuing on a second later, when it changed to green again. (I didn't get a good angle though, so I didn't bother saving a clip; only a photo, somewhere)

I was so mad I didn't have my old dashcam running a few years ago as I was driving up I-95. A stopped car on the shoulder's door opened and a guy stepped half out and vomited in a perfect parabolic arc.

Few road fuckups lately, but still timelapsing my bullshit trips via the Roav

a year of saving clips, and all I have to show for it are two clips posted previously, a couple of assholes, and a lot of being buzzed by helicopters.
