sorry, i don't know if this is naive on my part but i was hoping, way back in 2013 that this could be a thread for retrowave music, which was largely unnoticed and unappreciated and one of the great sources of this music was maniacsynth. a lot of people contributed music from this channel and the idea that it is now gone is loving horrible to me. there isn't much i can do about it, but im still thankful for everyone who has contributed something.

I love Gost from earlier in the thread. link your favourite songs by all means. I hope everyone is enjoying betamaxx's album. I've had it going for ages and it's terrific.

Dynatron is the poo poo. I like his slower, massive approach to synth music.

If anyone likes what they heard here, Dynatron's new album Aeternus just came out and it's even better than Escape Velocity imo.

does anyone have a favourite song on the Hotline Miami 2 OST?

It has a criminally low play in this thread

Personally I love Rust

love this soundtrack. I haven't even played the game. I only own a really lovely laptop unfortunately so I can't play it for the foreseeable future but I love what I'm hearing.

Also wanted to mention that the Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack had a remix EP. I just wanted to mention an absolute loving gem that can't be missed by anyone who listens to this music. The original song is by Scattle and the remix is by Carpenter Brut. So you can already tell that this is special.

Likewise with "Tech Noir" by Gunship: the original is good, but Carpenter Brut is a goddamn titan of remixing.

I've listened to that Gunship remix dozens of times. It's a testament to how good his own songs are that I don't immediately like these remixes more.

Edit: i hosed that phrasing up badly the first time

Everyone knows that New Retro Wave is just the name of a website right? The styles are Synthwave, Outrun Electro etc. I think the dude who runs that site just takes delight in people thinking that's what it's called, mind.

And the triple LP of Pert's new record was long gone by the time I saw it... I'm guessing it was pretty expensive based on what the other editions were listed at though?

I think this discussion happened elsewhere in the thread. Some people apparently call it new wave (or new new wave or something) and some people call it retro wave. I don't think anyone objects to new retro wave too much. I know there are probably nuances within the genre but it's not a huge deal
