Yeah, it's good all around. The audience prefers that, especially if there aren't any other shows on the channel. They end up having to do less work too.

I would imagine that's probably what will happen, considering they have nothing else on the channel now.

A caller from Canada called in and said the same thing pretty much and they shot him down and called him an idiot. They think people want new content mainly because the old poo poo is just that, old poo poo. What they don't realize is there is a large number who would prefer to hear something else later in the day and actually listen to a 4 hour show and want more in their day.

Opie: You don't get it. We don't talk about this all the time.

They literally reword their same argument that is about five minutes of material into an hour or more of material every time a minor free speech issue comes up in the media. When Imus got fired they spent basically that entire week with over half of each show just bitching about it. It is the least interesting/funny thing that they do now. I'd rather here Anthony's opinion on taxes.

Ron and Fez has pretty much dropped off my radar since they moved. No clue why, I liked them, but I've listened maybe twice for 15-20 minutes since then.

To me this says maybe the move wasn't as good of an idea accept for the whole Sirius people who don't pay extra can listen to them now.

Yeah, all they had to do was plug in an old Weird Medicine or DMSP and they'd have been fine. You ideally never want to not run live programming when it was supposed to go on obviously, but there are plenty of ways to work around it and his show isn't that big of a deal anyway.

I love people with no fame in anyway who start generic podcasts. Some ideas are clever enough and if you get in early to podcasting you can fill that niche, but most are terrible and overdone anyway. Since I've been working in media, I see it constantly. If you look at it merely as a hobby or a way to refine your own on air talking/personality, fine. However, so many people have delusions of granger about their podcast actually becoming a thing of success. No one is ever going to listen to you talking for an hour about sports or whatever unless they know you, and even then most of them are just being nice.

I've seen it through radio, a guy I know actually quit his radio gig and started a podcast network trying to get a niche audience through "city interest" (as in, podcast based around said city).

I guess it's similar though to the waves and waves of people who create below par music who clearly aren't cut out to be a success in anyway but still take years and years to actually realize it.

My point I guess is that podcasts are poo poo for income for people even with some fame so I don't get why so many people think it can be a thing for them.

Yeah, many people I know have them. The only people seriously listening are the closest friends and family, and a lot of that is just the whole closeness to that person requirement.

Also, the guy I know who quit and started his own podcast network apparently stopped paying for the website since it's down. He also looks to have stopped his own podcasts.. as the last one on itunes is from November. Oops.
