I got rid of the most seattle car(green 2000 outback wagon) for what I think is the second most seattle car(2013 jetta tdi sportwagen). I would be down for something.

Also, anyone want to buy my e30 or alltrac celica project so my girlfriend doesn't kill me when I bring home a mr2?

To add to this, how exactly are they testing for it? I would think you'd have to have been arrested or a warrant would be needed. I work in emergency and we need a urine sample to test for cannaboids, I can't imagine theres some kind of breathalyzer test because of how it's metabolized.

From what I have heard, its mostly been blood tests taken after an incident. While I agree its a bullshit testing method(hence the burnouts tag), it rarely happens, usually after an accident.

driving is a privilege, not a right. no warrants are needed to search you, or your vehicle.

Yes, this is all true, but remember you can get a DUI for driving stoned anywhere. Hell most places wont even bother testing you, and just go by the cop "smelling marijuana" and the driver having red eyes. I have lived in Seattle my entire life and smoked my fair share and I am not concerned in the least. Just remember, lawyer up.

Ballard Bar and Grill is probably a pretty good option if we want to do this. One of the few places in the city that is actually decent to go to and has a parking lot that is big. I can't wait till my lease is up on my current house in shoreline so I can move back to ballard.

I was pretty happy with the SMART service when we had a outback.

For general stuff, my go to shop is Taskar Garage in ballard. The owner is awesome and has fixed minor things for me for free in the past, as well as done work in exchange for king crab and/or salmon. Also one of the few shops I have ever dealt with that flat out refused to do work that was not worth it. My friends dad had a explorer that blew its 3rd transmission and they told him they weren't going to waste his money putting another transmission in it.

For suspension work or cars I care about more, its group 2 in magnolia all the way. Its worth it just to be able to wander around the shop a bit and look at the awesome cars that are sitting around.

I just asked him and he's got his hands full with just one alltrac.

What's wrong with it?

Really it needs a new engine/transmission. Shortly after I got it the valve stem seals went along with the turbo seal, and 2nd/3rd gear syncros were toast when I got it. I started pulling the turbo off to get it rebuilt and then found some of the PO's work to make the car run mega squirt, which was a terrible hack job. That made me decide that it was not worth fixing the current motor, and I was planning on getting a st205 engine/transmission and take out the megasquirt, but I never got that far. It could be put back on the road with some head work, fixing a couple of the really bad hacks(ie crank position sensor being mounted on a L shaped piece of metal, on end attached to a motor mount and the other to the ac pump. It would loose spark randomly at high revs when it would bounce around) and rebuilding the turbo.

The car is in really nice shape as far as the body goes, tho it has a lovely paint job on it. Nice suspension with poly bushings everywhere. I just don't really have enough interest to spend the time/money it needs.

Molly Macguires in Ballard on 65th by the Goodwill has a nice patio, it's a smaller place but decently available street parking and it's usually not a zoo, the aforementioned 4B's on Leary has like 8 pool tables and a large parking lot but no patio.

Molly Macguires is great. There is also the Ould Triangle on 100th and greenwood that used to be owned by the same people(married couple, each got a bar in the divorce). Easier parking and bigger patio than Molly's.

yea, Aloha ramen was a odd place. I only went there once since I could never figure out their hours, but I drove by one day and saw that they were open and immediately stopped. Pretty good, but not amazing.

We used to live in greenwood before moving to shoreline for the past year, since it was way more convenient for my girlfriends school. I am super pumped to be moving back, but we are spending way too much money on stuff for the house. But I for sure can't make it on sunday now since the couch we picked out is being delivered sunday, between 9am and 6pm. So I guess I will be unpacking/sitting in the yard drinking.

This thread is making me even more depressed about our house search. I wish that me or my fiance could come to terms with leaving the city, but we both grew up in Seattle and still have our hearts set on finding somewhere in north seattle. Part of me wants to say gently caress it and just move to bellingham or something, but I don't think she is up for that plan. Fingers crossed that we can make a deal with my mom and stepdad to buy their house in Ballard. It might be kinda odd to buy the house I grew up in, but you can't beat the location. Needs a full remodel, but its livable in the mean time. Just need to buy something so I can leave HP and go work somewhere that will pay me better.

What are you Seattle people's commute times like? Portland is getting a lot worse and I'd like to compare anecdotes.

I am currently renting a house at pretty much 81st and greenwood and commuting to the convention center(7th and pine) in downtown. Granted I work from home 3 out of 5 days, but the ~6 mile drive to my office takes from ~15 minutes with light traffic to 1+ hours if traffic is bad. Coming home is even worse since all the construction in downtown is loving traffic. If I leave my office by 3pm, its a 20 minute drive home, anytime after 4pm its more like 45 minutes minimum if I am lucky, mostly just getting to aurora. Hopefully once the new 99 tunnel is finished(not holding my breath) it will help the commute.

Mat_Drinks posted:

Well, yeah, if you're trying to buy a house in Ballard there is plenty to be depressed about. But there are still parts of the city and just outside that can be kind of affordable.

Ballard is our dream neighborhood. Unless my mom and stepdad make us a good offer on their house, there is no way we can buy a house there. We live in greenwood now and love it, but its almost as bad as ballard now, so we are really banking on my mom's house. I am open to West Seattle, but the fiance is not, so I am trying to convince her. I would honestly not mind buying a place in edmonds, so if we can't do north seattle, that is where I am pushing for.

I grew up between that house and queen Anne and magnolia, and i used to rent an apartment on 62nd and 20th, so I am well aware of the commute running bridge.
