Was watching 2004 ROH, main event was The Prophecy of Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer vs The Second City Saints of Ace Steel & Colt Cabana (there was also Generation Next & The Briscoes but they were eliminated by this time). Anyway, Dan Maff did the Burning Hammer on Colt Cabana and I Do not envy Colt.

AkumaHokoru posted:that was the end of the match right? I cant imagine roh being happy about people messing with the burning hammer like that if it wasnt. Yeah it was the finish, the Burning Hammer was (probably still is) Maff's finish. Immediately before it Whitmer gave Steel an exploder through the table you can see strewn on the mat It's actually a pretty fun match, Maff & Whitmer are an under-rated team.

I watched most of NOAH's The Best show earlier and here are some gifs of some fun spots First, a neato and vicious move from HAYATA in the Jr Heavyweight title match Two mist spots from the Muta vs Marufuji match because I'm a sucker for a good mist spot. A simple spot, but Katsuhiko Nakajima kicking the bejesus out of someone is always fun

God I love watching Marufuji's selling of the mist, it's so over the top. Anyway, I'm slowly watching more this NOAH show so have a few more gifs In which Big Mike tries to kill himself on a tope suicida I would not want to take this bump A guy Sugi's size & age & build doing this is rad

Putting Manami Toyota in brought up a 77 person Battle Royal from 2013 but Kikutaro wasn't involved in that. A 97 minute battle royal featuring Aja Kong, Jun Akiyama, Dump Matsumoto, TAKA Michinoku, Danshoku Dino, Kana, Yuji Okabayashi, Meiko Satomura & Winger. That sure is some lineup. Hmmm, have some more gifs from ROH Reborn: Completion First, Matt Stryker doing the single most interesting thing in his entire career Then from the main event 6 man tag Samoa Joe tries to Ole Kick Julius Smokes, Homicide stops him, Joe is unhappy And then Mark Briscoe tries to kill himself with the worst shooting star press since Brock Lesnar. Gaz-L posted:Was Nakanishi any good before he became an immobile lump? I think it'd be fair from what I've seen to characterise him as good-not-great. His best matches are mostly tag team matches but he had some singles matches that are worth checking, mostly in the '00s against Yuji Nagata or Hiroshi Tanahashi. The best Nakanishi singles matches are either May 2009 vs Tanahashi at Korakuen or the 2003 Hyper Battle match from Nagoya Rainbow Hall against Nagata though. I'd also say try find the 7/7/08 tag match with Nakanishi & Nagata vs the Zero1 team of Masato Tanaka & Shinjiro Ohtani. That's a lot of fun. And as a NOAH mark I'd have to say that in 2016 there are 2 8 man tags, NJPW vs NOAH. that are fun. 14/8 with Nakanishi, Nagata, Shibata & Tenzan vs Go Shiozaki, Katsuhiko Nakajima, Maybach Taniguchi & Masa Kitamiya, & then then at King of Pro Wrestling 2016 where the NOAH team was the same but the NJPW team added in Kojima for Shibata. I think that was really the last Nakanishi match I was invested in before his retirement.

a cyborg mug posted:drat did Tenryu always hit this hard? I've only known him as An Old and probably have never seen any of his matches Oh god yeah. Tenryu held his own against sluggers of the 80s like Bruiser Brody & Stan Hansen & Jumbo Tsuruta. Then when he came back to All Japan (after the NOAH split) he stood in there with Kawada & Kojima & Mutoh. In between the 2 AJPW runs he had brutal matches with Takada, with Hashimoto, he became the only wrestler to hold singles victories over both Giant Baba & Antonio Inoki. It's one of those quirks of history, if Tenryu didn't jump from All Japan to SWS then Baba probably doesn't feel the need to have Misawa go over Jumbo at the Budokan in 1990 & Tenryu is the ace of the company for at least the first half of the 90s. Instead, he kind of gets underlooked relative to the Four Pillars. He's the guy opposite Hulk Hogan in a match people often pointed to for "Hogan was better in Japan" arguments. Tenryu slaps. Hard.
