I don't mind confusing backstories as much as the horribly unbalanced skill levels. 50-50 mixes are unfair and make for bad seasons. Having 2 or 3 returning players is usually fine, but they don't add enough intrigue to balance the risk of Rob/Coach cults or idiots overreacting like Russell's Redemption Island tribe.
