Bamboo is a rhizome and spreads incredibly quickly/aggressively. It can damage the local ecosystem if left unchecked. Do not plant it unless you're prepared to take full precautions to keep it contained, which can involve burying barriers and regular root pruning. More here. Everyone please consider local ecosystems when you do any of this. Agriculture isn't "sustainable" if it unleashes a bunch of invasive species.
