Here's quite a nice Late Late Show eulogy that came out yesterday

As far as first shows go it was good enough. I get what CBS are doing now though - putting an adult up against Fallon and then British-Fallon up against Meyers. Makes sense.

I genuinely believe the only reason Seth got Late Night was so he's still at NBC in 5 years to take over SNL.

Is Lorne Michaels the retiring type? I always figured he'd want be in charge of SNL until he died, even if he lives to be 100.

He's 70, so we'll find out sooner or later...

Wait, did Seth Meyers start doing this Weekend Update style opening pre or post Colbert's debut?

Pre, over the summer.

Conan should keep making his show, but then only air the scraps.

So Jim Jefferies is a talk show host now as well. Anyone watch it?

It was ... fine ... low energy, but between Daily Show/Colbert/Seth Meyers/Sam Bee/John Oliver/President Show i can't really face any more 'comedian behind a desk' shows.

He did a fun video in Amsterdam though Interviewing a man in 'traditional' blackface, so at least it wasn't all politics.

I hadn’t watched yet, and of course he had to horn in on their spot. It’s only their last time on the show.

Christ, he can be a dick, sometimes.

Uh you should watch it, I think you're getting mad about a web exclusive clip and missed the 5 minute solo TV performance they got?

Did he do the same routine for each show? Cause I watched the seth meyers show from last night and it was downright poo poo

Nope, he managed to do six different routines which all seemed to be garbage (I watched two and then skimmed the others).

He at least managed some funny ad-libs in this though..

I've been basically devouring Ferguson clips this past week and I think the thing I miss the most from him is how natural it felt. Late night as a format is very artificial, from the monologue to the interviews (with hosts like Fallon just making that artificiality easier to see), and while some hosts try to play with it every now and then (see Conan), Ferguson just completely disregarded it from top to bottom.

That's basically the synopsis for this great video

Look who popped up out of nowhere

Judging by how quickly he changed the subject, he really doesn't want to talk about the radio show.

Similarly I'm looking forward to Jon Oliver finally doing non trump (and in time non covid) long pieces again.

Hopefully Conan's contract is until near the end of 2021 and he gets to do some finals shows with an audience. Would be a shame to end during the empty theatre times.

Then again they've probably already dismantled his sets at this point.

F1 averages ~670,000 viewers on ESPN2, so it's basically NXT with a more desirable demo.

I kinda like Corden now? Granted I've only watched the start of his episodes, and exclusively via YouTube, but he seems to have leaned into the weirdness of the pandemic and now it just seems to be 10-15 mins of weird looseness between him and the crew.

is the CBS @Midnight revival still going to go ahead or did that get canned when the strike dragged on?

Can we lose the shows and keep Strike Force Five instead? That's a much more enjoyable hour, Fallon's contributions excluded.
