Yeah this critical staffing level wasn't going to last forever. Hopefully in 5 more years, mobility will increase quite a bit.

Let's hope. My wife GTFO of Memphis center, thankfully. We're in SLC now and down the road looking to move back East.

I remember when I figured out that pay chart and what my wife would be earning...

I was... happy. :)

So each facility gets to set their schedule huh?

Sounds like some are still hanging on to the 5/5 and some are creeping to 5/2.

Anybody still running 5/10?

I also think air traffic will rebound faster than anyone anticipates... No way it takes 5 years to rebound like some have suggested.

That's not anything even close to automation. It's still humans doing tower stuff, just without being in a tower at that exact field.

I'm off starting today, but yesterday was pretty loving busy, presumably for the holiday weekend. 4th of July is gonna spread some rona like crazy.

I forget, you in Denver or KC now?

Oh hey, we went ATC zero last night and got a building wide deep cleaning for a couple corona positives! Good thing we're gonna OPEN ER UP!

We've been looking and the people complaining about how hard they're having to work are doing like 4 hours on position.

ZID did too, along with a few others.

They were talking about how lovely it was today and none of them even hit 5 hours. I'd say 5+ hours was pretty standard during the before times with 6+ hour days not being all that uncommon. Gotta get rid of those 5 day weekends so you only have to plug in for 2 hours!

I mean I couldn’t think of anything better, besides just being paid to never work. You essentially get a week of paid vacation after every week you work.

Yet people still bitch and moan about it for some reason.

Crunch the numbers to see how much free leave you're really getting.

Under normal circumstances you're working 5/7 of the time.

So... What would you like to be paid in full to do...

Work 71% of the days of the year
Work 50% of the days of the year
Work 33% of the days of the year

I cannot understand at all why it’s a 10 or 15 day rotation and not a 14 day one, which would both line up with pay periods and have peoples' work days stay the same week to week.

What's a work week look like?

5 on 9 off?

I don't think it would be fair to ask 7 on 7 off.

lol this sounds a lot like the drug addict CPC at ZJX who LIVED at the facility for MONTHS before the right person found out (it was an open secret, people didn't care as long as he made his shift on time and was sober). ZJX has, and had, some real special situations. And honestly? This isn't close to the most absurd.

I’ve genuinely not minded it here as a supervisor but I’m glad to finally be getting home. I definitely took the correct path since we haven’t released a controller in like 3 years. Everyone is applying to sup jobs now. I’m also getting out at a good time because staffing on the supervisor end has suddenly gotten lovely on top of a few other things.
