What is this hostile space you speak of? uwaeve posted:Use EFT to get some rules of thumb/guidelines/feelings, then go suck in space until you stop sucking in space. So one big problem with EFT, fitting ships, etc that I've run into is that I have no gauge for relative DPS, EHP, HP, etc. Is 100 DPS on a frigate a lot? Or a little? A catalyst can do 750 DPS gank fit, but it's a bigger ship, and probably has some drawbacks in terms of survivability or maneuverability. How much tank / EHP / HP enough? Is there a steep fall-off in terms of shield HP vs. signature radius, or armor vs. mass. Obviously, this is something you learn from getting tons of lossmails, but the highly nuanced and non-linear gameplay wrt PvP is definitely something that's somewhat tricky to understand in a quantified way.

I don't plan on making a profit out of this, it's just to kill the monotony between day long ratting sessions, so profitability isn't a concern. It is possible to kill an untanked Mackinaw with a T2 Gankalyst, but it's hit or miss. I would get a Small Hybrids and a Sharp Shooting level 3 hardwire if I were going to do it again seriously. Works best when you have a scanning alt to look fore ORE Strip Miners and lack of tanks. On a side not for people recommending ganking fits. MiniLuv recommends Magnetometric ECCM if your sec status is -2.0 or lower. Something about it has a small chance of blocking the initial jam that concord gives you. Also, MiniLuv recommends a Scan Res Sensor Booster, but I never really valued that. Don't use T2 Gankalysts to gank retrievers. Retrievers can be done with M0 or M4 Gankalyst, and the T2 fit costs ~10m for a ~30m killmail. T2s should be used for T2 Barges, which have a 200m isk payout. Edit: clarification

Hollow Talk posted:Is this the kind of activity that uses a passive targeter alongside a module scanner (to find out whether they are tanked) and a cargo scanner (to find out whether it's worth killing them)? Because that seems to be one of the few instances were that module actually makes some sense to me. Are they used in any other contexts? Your suggestion isn't bad for the course. Unfortunately, a smart, non-afk miner will warp away as soon as they see you, so the passive targeting array does nothing. Though it might be useful if you're going after ice mining fleets. The cargo/mod scanner could be useful if you don't have a scan alt and want to scope out afk miners before giving it a go, and I don't actually believe you lose too much effectiveness over AB/Scram, SEBO/MECCM or any of the other convos. Of course, best practice is to use a scanner alt in a heron or something that can also scoop the loot. And scan T1 haulers for highsec ganking The bhaalgorn is an interesting use. Unfortunately, this is somewhat limited [in all the above cases -ed.] by the fact that module scanners don't produce complete results. It requires several scans to get a good indication of what mods are fitted on a ship. On a side note: I can't decide what to train. I've spent the last 2 months getting all supports and fitting skills to 4 (and some to five). I can fly T2 Minmatar Frigates (AssFrigs, Intys, Covops), and T1s up to BCs. What to do? Electronic Attack frigates? T2 Caldari Frigates? T2 Medium Projectiles? A sabre?

I've got T2 Small Hybrids and Projectiles, T2 Medium Projectiles. I have Long Range Targetting V queued right now, as it's support-y, and gives me EAF, increasing the return on training Caldari/Gallente Frig to V, but it sounds like Sabre is really the way to go. Edit: Didn't answer the first question, but I think I tend to like small gang more than mainfleet, though most of my experience in the last ~4 months has been Theta Homeland Defense and main fleet. So I guess EAF works for small gang, and Sabre works for all-gangs.

And there isn't a lot of out of game documentation as far as I can tell. So, programmatically Starting from someone elses pack and editing it is fine. Just wanted to chime in on Erotica 1. The duration of the scam doesn't really matter. I've pulled long scams and pulled short scams. I've scammed newbees and veterans. Hell, I spent 7 hours escorting one mark's freighter through lowsec and then his Orca to nullsec. None of these really crossed the line. The problem is, as far as I know, Erotica 1 doesn't really 'play' the game in the conventional sense. His primary form of playing is scamming, subterfuge and puppet mastering. These don't really require money. So why is he scamming then? For the literal tears and humiliation of the mark. If he wanted the money, he'd have the target at step 1 and call it a day, like most of us do. Singing a song? Not too bad. Reciting some poetry or reading random articles? Whatever. Getting your mark to write Erotica 1 for CSM on their chest in peanut butter, taking a picture, sending it to you for you to post in a semi-public place? Too far. fake edit: I read somewhere that he was a veteran of Iraq and came back a lot more hosed up than he left. Although I did like his idea of the Great Christmas Pubbie Scam a lot.

It's not about the money, the ships, the plex or the lp. It's about getting someone on comms and being viciously mean to them in a tongue-and-cheek manner while dangling the carrot-on-a-stick in front of their face. I'm glad Goonwaffe got rid of him.

What everyone else said. If you leave an MTU up in a spawned unfinished anom, you should expect it to be blown up when you return. If it's not, then someone was being nice. The only time I ever got aggravated about this kind of thing was when I had to warp out of a haven because my tank broke, and when I warped back, there was someone in the Haven. Even though my MTU was up, named after the character running the anom, and that character was in system. And there was a DG spawn as well. I was a little bitter, but I just scooped my MTU, the valuable loot, and left. The DG probably just dropped tags and ammo anyway.

We've done 2x Daredevil with good and okay success, and Daredevil + Firetail with okay success. One of the problems we run into is that a lot of easy targets are warping off from plexes right as we get them targeted. So that led me to think about using an instalock Dramiel for better ability to lock people in plexes. We figured a decent 1x SEBO fit with 1.2s lock and decent dps, but the problem in my mind is that beyond initial point, the ship doesn't add that much to the fight, so I'm a little uneasy about trying it out.
