I joined Goonwaffe one week ago on a trial account, did all the in-game tutorials, got chaperoned in my pod to Deklein, receieved over 800mil isk in goonations, jumped to AF0, and flew one of my 4 free frigates to join the hellcamp in 0-W778.

In one week I went from not ever playing EVE before to doing something that matters and having enough ISK that stupid noob mistakes don't matter too much.

Join Goonwaffe.

For someone completely new to the game with barely 500k SP, what would be the best skill to raise to V first? I understand it's probably not something that should be done right away, but what V-level skill would give the best benefit? Drones? Cap management? CPU?

I got a LOT of enjoyment out of being a Maulus Damper in that breakout attempt. I can now (poorly) fly either an Exeq or a Celestis, and part of the Milestones for either of them are Drones V, which I am currently training now. I'm already at CPU III / Power Grid III /Cap IV and only Drones V is holding me back from that first milestone in either ship, which is why I was asking.

I'll be getting CPU / Power / Cap to V as fast as I can too, though!

I had heard about this game from some other goons, figured I'd give it a try. Read the OP and followed the instructions (I thought), but I think I hosed up with the vcode thingy. I have honestly no idea, maybe I'm destined for a life of being lovely :v:

I heard you got this figured out, but this happened to me too. The EVE API needs time to update and if you try to register too quickly, it won't have time to update and pull your Character Names. Or something along these lines.

You are absolutely dense, or a very good troll.

I've been playing for less than two weeks. During this previous Hell Camp, I had less than 500k SP, and was given EIGHT FRIGATES for absolutely nothing in return. I died 3 times and got podded 3 times, losing ~10mil worth of stuff.

10mil of losses to bring down 1bil of ships? Sounds like a win in my books.

You're doing yourself a disservice (and essentially everyone here who's read your blathering) by being so obtuse.

Goons love NEWBEES.

EDIT: Did I do a poo poo-ton of damage? Nope! Did I die within a few minutes of webbing/pointing a fleeing ship? Probably! Did I learn things I wouldn't have in HiSec questlines? Absolutely! And I had fun to boot.

At first we figured a Super was tackled or something because they bridged the Maelstroms in but it doesn't really seem like it.

We put up a new JB and then 15 minutes later BL came in again and killed that one too. Now there's yet another JB that went up. HOW LONG WILL THIS ONE LAST

I'm sorry for linking funny poo poo I find on Reddit, but this is kinda important and might be relevant here:

Topic: CCP gave my info to INTERPOL because they thought i was going to kill myself.

quote:

Hey guys, so I am writing to you right now because the police literally just woke me up (4:30 am here) asking if I play an online game called EVE and that CCP games actually contacted INTERPOL (I live in Canada- that's x-country police work right there) who then contacted the RCMP who just dispatched two officers to my house because I said I "was going to blow my loving brains out" in Local Chat at Jita because of a loss earlier. I imagine the follow up text (body disposal, cleanup) that another player and I were openly joking about made itself to the report however the officers were kind enough to only mention the fact I had said I want to end my own life in an online video game. The officers then asked me if I have a history of self-harm, and if I had any firearms in the house (no, to both) Lesson learned here? Watch what you loving say in an online game! Even when you say something to somebody specifically, someone may take it out of context and get loving INTERPOL involved. What kind of international suicide watch list did I unintentionally end up on?
I was not expecting this to happen especially considering I haven't played EVE in about 6 hours.

Not that this is funny, just that it's Something Awful. Sorry for any confusion - here, having a Mining Moros

The CFC Declares War on Guristas and Serpentis
Following his coalition's successful wars against N3 and BL, space emperor The Mittani announced his coalition would be deploying to their home regions to fight a counter-offensive against their greatest enemy yet: the belt rats and NPCs of the north and west.

This could be the greatest challenge yet faced by the coalition since their formation in 2010. The #1 killer of Goonswarm Federation ships in 2013 and other alliances in the CFC have suffered similar results - media magnate Xander Phoena lost three Ishtars to hit squads of Guristas in anomalies in the month of February alone.

Many have questioned whether the CFC have the ability to win this war. After a successful campaign of mostly-AFK combat in the south, they are hoping to repeat their tactics by using the mighty AFKtar with a newbie doctrine of Vexor Navy Issues and Dominixes with support wings of Noctises, Mobile Tractor Units and Encounter Surveillance Systems. Many speculators have been quick to comment on the controversial inclusion of the ESS - many believe it will harm the CFCs campaign rather than aid it due to the threat of third-party interceptors siding with the NPCs.

It's more than likely we'll also see ratting carriers deployed, with a higher concentration in Delkein. Ratting carriers are one of the Guristas' greatest weaknesses - and they know it. It's likely they'll hire locals including Mordus Angels and Triumvirate, to use their capitals against the carriers. Without their help they'll be powerless against the 10,000 DPS tanked carriers hoovering up Sanctums by the hour.

Enemies of Goonswarm have sneered at the fact that they can be easily defeated by people who can't change their damage type and have easily predictable and well-known fleet compositions and positions. Gevlon Goblin was among these people, and was quick to publicise his hope that this war would allow him to take one or two highsec POCOs. Others are calling this a sneaky rouse by CFC leadership so they have an excuse to not save the Russian block from their inevitable demise at the hands of Hero and N3.

It's unclear how long CFC morale will hold up in this war - losses to NPCs are not eligible for SRP and taking on an organisation that's generally accepted to be immortal with a limitless supply of ships can be intimidating. At any rate it's clear that people who whined about the blue doughnut after B-R5RB are idiots and are not to be trusted.

Just went out on my first Harpyfleet as a Burst.

40+ Harpies with ~8 Bursts went and caused over 2.3 billion in damages, taking losses (including my beloved Burst, RIP) of about 200mil. I had mad fun, saved 3 dudes who were more than half-way into Hull, repped a bunch of goons until I was primaried, and am (hopefully :ohdear:) getting reimbursed essentially making me ~8mil in profit from participating. I didn't even get podded, yay!

I'm pretty sure I didn't sell broken vigils. Is it just a display glitch? I\Or is CCP somehow tracking the particular modules I sold and reporting back their current condition? Because that would be crazy.

This is happening to me too, on the other end. I bought a Burst on Contract, and got it blown up. Viewing my Completed Contracts (to use as a guide to refit another Burst) shows me the same stuff - the modules I overheated showing as damaged, and the ship itself showing as 120% damaged. Weird!

Supposedly, the guy who got Bonus Round'd another dude who got Bonus Round'd a week or two ago is posting on Reddit.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/21coxo/i_was_a_victim_of_the_erotica_1_bonus_round_ask/

OP:

quote:

At this point, I had been playing Eve for a few months. The people I had played with had been really nice. I saw Erotica 1 promising to double isk, so I figured I would give it a try(my first mistake). I sent 50m and got back 100m, so I figured she was trustworthy and sent her 300m.
At this point, she messages me saying I am the 100th client and am "lucky enough to get a bonus round". I was invited to his channel, where Erotica 1 and a bunch of his friends pestered me to get on Teamspeak. I asked to just have my isk doubled, but was told I had no choice but to play. I have been having RL financial difficulties lately, and needed the isk to keep playing Eve, so I did it.

Choice quotes:
Q: Why didn't you quit Teamspeak when you realized you weren't having fun anymore?
A: Erotica1 does a really good job of making you feel like he is the good guy. Its hard to explain, but after at first it isn't too bad. And after a while I was just exhausted and couldn't think clearly. Also, I really wanted to keep playing Eve with my friends. I was hoping to buy a plex.

Q: Are you still playing EVE after this experience?
A: No. My subscription is about to run out and I am having some RL financial problems. Hopefully CCP and the community can do something about these players though.

Q: How has "Bonus Round" affected you view of EVE and it's community?
A: It has seriously soured me to the game. I can't believe this stuff is allowed to go on. I think most Eve players are good people, but people like this are going to drive the community in a bad direction. Due to RL financial problems I will probably have to quit Eve anyway, but I am not sure I would want to keep playing anyway with people like him.

Q: What was the take? (Erotica's scam is widely known to be the gold standard of isk doubling, but it's less publicly known what the average haul is. I'd be curious to know how bad my scam is in comparison.)
A: She got 400m isk from me.

Reading the comments in Jester's blog post all I can see is "grr goons" and "stop liking what I don't like" I'm concerned that this will be used to nerf or add to the rules things that will limit the scope of awox, ganking, safari etc (not that I've done awox or safari, they're not my thing)

That's not to say Erotica isn't a poo poo bag for what he's done, as someone said earlier it does seem like he took the step beyond scamming for in game money and did indeed sort of turn it in to a sociopath simulator. Now whilst I don't have the answers to what any potential punishment may be I am inclined to also agree with the fact that the guy at any time could simply have closed down TS and removed himself from the situation.

So what we have here is a retard and a predator meeting, exchanging greetings and the predator coming out on top. Again I'm not justifying what that poo poo head done.

If you blindly give away 99% of the money in your bank account, and there's a 1% chance you'll get it back, how difficult would it be for you to just remove yourself from the situation?
