I think you're taking my post a lot more negatively than I intended. The professional troublemakers seemed 100% hired by the Yanuk side to make the protesters look bad. Bottom-feeders will latch onto any movement, that doesn't mean they have anything genuinely to do with it, or that the greater movement ethics have anything to do with the bottom-feeder desires. Any shmuck can stand around a protest holding an offensive image and get someone to snap a quick picture, especially if it's a deliberate false-flag; it takes extensive self-policing on the side of the protesters to control it, and a level of organization these protests rarely have to spare. The only places I'm seeing allegations of widespread sympathies of fascism, ultranationalism, anti-Semitism etc on the Maidan side were coming from Russian press, with obvious motivations. There are obviously fascist, ultranationalist, anti-Semitic groups trying to participate, but fish pissing in the ocean don't make an ocean of piss. There are prominent Jewish groups on both pro-Maidan and pro-Russian sides (hey, we supported the Bolsheviks, we obviously make mistakes.) SS imagery is also popular with a certain (rather foolish) macho clique, see US Marine scout snipers being caught with it. It's also popular with bikers the world over who have no nationalist-socialist leanings whatsoever, but fetishize the skull motifs.

Not to be a D&D-style pedant, but you can be a fascist and not be an anti-Semite, and you can certainly be an anti-Semite and not be fascist. Similarly while fascism generally includes a strong nationalist bent, you can be a nationalist and not be a fascist at all. Articles like that Daily Beast one that use the terms interchangeably just come off as confused. If there has been one distinctively fascist characteristic present during this period, it's the use of organized un-uniformed brute squads to silence dissenters, and that does not appear to be coming from Maidan side. Russia Today's reporting on Ukraine has been been very trustworthy, to say the least.

Western TV news is garbage but the internet sites are better, especially if you use the live feeds. Take anything especially important-sounding with caution until it is confirmed by multiple sources. I've been reading BBC's feed but they're all pulling from the same wire services, Twitter feeds etc. I've also been using interpretermag.com as they include and translate the Russian side of things. They're a bit quicker to get new news if you're an F5 junkie. No news source is 100% objective, but as long as you recognize the biases and try to balance your sources, the harm is minimized.

I'd assume any relevant Wiki page is a vigorous battleground for the propaganda brigades (from both sides.) At best they're a broad explanation and a collection of maybe trustworthy links.

The new government at least claims that it is only temporary until Ukraine-wide elections can be held again. Of course that hasn't happened yet, but one can argue you can't have a free vote with a gun to your head - that can be interpreted different ways.
