Can anyone suggest some old school swords & sorcery comics?

A few examples come to mind. When I was like 11 I had an oversized Conan the Barbarian comic, black & white, and it had a naked chick in it (which is probably why I remember). It seems like a Conan book would be cool but I'd have no idea where to start. I'd like a big overarching story with lots of little adventures and side stuff.

The first handful of Cerebus the Aardvark were really cool, to me. I know it doesn't really reach its stride until it gets all political and super satirical, and he becomes pope or whatever, but I remember him just running around and being an adventurer, that was cool.

I started reading Elfquest and even though it's a little bit goofy with all the elf stuff it kind of reminds me of what I'm looking for. I think I'd prefer fewer characters, maybe even somewhat more mercenary characters, though.

I'm betting there are some good answers, or some good runs that someone might suggest. I'd appreciate it.

I suppose I'm looking for something out of the typical Marvel/DC mythos, but if there's a particular exception (I'm imagining that there are some older books in Marvel, or maybe even Thor runs from the past, which might come close to what I am looking for.)

Thanks!
With Conan just read savage sword of conan starting with the first trade along with dark horse conan. It’s the one that is written by busiek. The chronicles of conan are also good

I started rereading Hellblazer from the start, but I haven't read the Alan Moore Swamp Thing bit in awhile. Did Alan Moore come up with the Newcastle incident or is that a Delano invention? Because if it's Delano then it's definitely Delano in second place.

Oh yeah, and the yuppie demons over investing in souls and the market crashing on them with one bad faith actor rings way the gently caress more true now than when I first read it in the 90s, and it was written in the 80s.

Moore mentions the Newcastle incident but it’s Delano who wrote what actually happened.

Yeah, I just read that issue which is why I want to put Delano higher on the list. Were there any details beyond the word Newcastle and a dead girl? because that issue is loving gut wrenching.

Also the first two issues of Hellblazer are a loving hell (no pun intended) of a debut and would be an amazing script for an HBO pilot (or AMC at this point)

Think that it was just mentions of the Newcastle crew and it went badly

I'm looking for a recommendation along the lines of Bone. Something upbeat, fun, maybe on the cartoonier side of things, and ideally fairly long and complete.

Usagi! It’s a samurai rabbit who is on the warrior path. It’s one of the best comics I have ever read. It’s not complete but it’s been going on for a long time and it’s all done by one writer/artist/inker.

If you like female leads look up Gotham central which is focused on the day to day life of cops in Gotham and a lot of focus is on Renee. After that read 52 and followed by ruckas detective stuff which is Renee as the question and Batwoman. Rucka’s has some storylines during Batman’s no mans land that also are part of the Renee arc.

Currently, besides the comics I'm reading with my 5 year old (she's really enjoying Squirrel Girl thanks for that suggestion), I've just been reading random series that I've seen mentioned (haven't read comics in over 20 years really). Finished Watchmen, just finished Preacher, and am starting Transmetropolitan. No real connecting theme between them.

I am interested in reading something Marvel, but it is pretty overwhelming. I've not even seen many of the MCU movies besides Black Panther and the first Avengers. I know who your basic Spider Mans and X Mans are from the Saturday morning cartoons, but never really read any comics.

Just picked up Marvel Unlimited for a year. How the hell do I start in the face of all this? Seems overwhelming.
