I actually think it reads pretty well as a stand-alone story. The ending still sucks, but it's a good concept, and there are a couple really awesome moments (like the part where Spider-Man turns on Tony). It's just when you consider the context of every other tie-in book, plus present and past comics history, there are so many inconsistensies and weird choices that it becomes harder to justify.

I remember really liking it also when I read it before I actually got into comics. Now I'm pretty lukewarm on it, though I don't think it's one of the worst events they've done.

Civil War is a good storyline and makes sense...except for the fact that for decades and decades the setting has ignored, except in very selective cases, the possibility of mankind actually wanting their rights protected from the legitimately concerning issue of super powered rampages has. You can't just suddenly inject that particular brand of realism and expect it to take, your setting or story has to have it inbuilt as a central conceit to work. The Marvel universe isn't that universe and can't be that universe.

But divorced from these issues Tony was totally right :colbert:

Gonna be sad when the Great Society gets violently murdered because they're really enjoyable characters.

There's also the Black Panther / Not-Batman fight and Doctor Strange doing a Bad thing but I would end up posting half of the comic so I'll stick to Not-Superman being Superman.

This is only making me want Marvel to do an Elseworlds type thing featuring the Great Society even more.

Is it bad that I'd rather see the Justice League done by Marvel than the actual Justice League at this point

It reads a bit too much like smug fan-writer self-insert, but because it works (perhaps only) because it's Superman doing it, since that's exactly what he would do.

Really? I didn't like it precisely because the whole thing didn't sound right for Superman's voice at all. Especially the bit about "you know what go ahead and do it, I don't care".

Smug fan-writer self-insert is right, dude is using Superman as a sock puppet to express his grievances with the Joker. Whole thing reads like one of those comebacks you come up with AFTER a conversation.

Same here. The story works with basic familiarity of the big heroes.

Thirded. I knew jack and poo poo about DC comics beyond the basics. Kingdom Come still read beautifully.

It's in the Punisher: War Zone mini but I don't have the pages. Unfortunately Spidey comes down with a case of jobbing for the star because Frank C4's the ground underneath them or something, I forget. The whole mini was pretty good though, even if you don't like the Punisher. It has a bunch of Avengers try to chase him down and either let him get away, or have Frank get away in ways that actually make sense.

It's still a pretty rad set of pages overall because it's mostly Frank getting wrecked.

And Frank is garbage so, ya know, that's always rewarding.

This is not the first time My Hero Academia has been posted in this thread and received a general reaction of "what is even happening" so I suspect it's a problem with the artist being bad at conveying action :v:

8-Bit Theater honestly doesn't have much on the modern crop of webcomics. It was good for it's time but eh.

I for one am shocked that a premise as ridiculously 90s edgy as Wonderwoman wielding Supermans spine and skull as a flail doesn’t make sense.

Kill 6 Billion Demons is an isekai

An ordinary woman gets sucked into a world that makes no sense after having the ultimate source of all universal power lodged in her forehead by the former king of all reality.

She neither dies to be transported in such a way nor is she inherently freakishly good at everything.

She is in fact insanely bad at doing anything with the Key of Kings for...a while.

The Question IRL posted:

Well it is unlikely but possible.

(Spoilers)

So basically in the Trial of Magneto, Scarlet Witch comes to Krakoa during the Hellfire Galla where humans are invited.
This is a big deal because the Scarlet Witch has been elevated to Mutant Judy's Iscariot for the whole "No More Mutants" thing.

During the story it was revealed that Professor X's resurrection machine has a copy of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver because for a time they were thought to be mutants. So the story starts off with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver as "not mutants/not Magnetos kids. But so close that everyone believed it."

Scarlet Witch and Magneto hatch a very convoluted plot which is to fake Wandas death. Only Wanda concludes it would just be easier to for real kill herself and let her bring herself back to life with magic. Since she is that powerful.

A lot of stuff happens and Wanda meets other versions of herself and blah blah blah. But in the end Wanda and Magnetos plan comes together which is that Wanda uses her magic to create a special Mutant only Heaven. Where Mutant souls can go to when they die and wait to be resurrected. Oh and people who were supposed to be mutants before they got reality zapped and mutants who existed before the Resurection machine were even built got to go there too.

So it's a super Mutant only place. But Scarlet Witch can just go there, so now she is a Mutant? Maybe.

Oh and to cast the spell, Wanda needed the children of the founders of Krakoa to get together to be the focus of the magic. Proteus (Moria MacTargart.) Legion (Charles Xaiver.) and Polaris (Magneto.)

But it initially didn't work with Polaris so Wanda had to take her place. Which maybe means that Wanda is back to being Magnetos daughter again?

The point is Wanda seems to powerful now that she could have just rewritten reality so she is a Mutant (and Magnetos daughter) again. But also powerful enough that she could do that for her but not for Quicksilver and at the same time still have them as Twins.

Much like Maria Hill, I hate the X-Men. And Beast.

Dandadan reminds me a lot of Dr McNinja sometimes in that it is completely unhinged but very internally consistent in following its madcap premises to their logical/insane conclusions.
