Future's End would have been a really interesting thing if:

*They had thought about doing this from the beginning and didn't try and shove 4 Robins into Batman's history along with other continuity headaches
*It actually stuck and wasn't a short crossover event that really means nothing in the long haul other than more gimmicks.

Whatever dumb amount of time they decided on continuity for DC would have ended up working a lot better in the long run if they'd done a couple of years "In the middle" stories to kind of tell things and then flash forward another five years where things are more stable. They could have done a 52/OYL type comic overall/tie-ins that showed and explained what happened in the five years in the mean time.

But nah, it's just a couple month crossover at best that shows what **might** happen in five years (That will almost certainly not be remotely true)

Its just Johns version of Twilight of the Gods.

It's really hard to tell if these are supposed to be all new characters or a re-jiggering of the original lineup. The original Forever People were four dudes and a girl, and this new image shows two dudes and two girls, so at least one person is dropped, and at least one dude is a girl now (which is fine).

I mean, none of them look like the originals, but conceivably the guy in the back could be Big Bear and the guy in front could be Vykin, though neither of them is quite like the original design. If you interpret the woman in front as having a hat and bandanna, she could be Serifan, but the woman in back looks more like Mark Moonrider than Beautiful Dreamer, so it's hard to tell what's up.

It will be interesting to see what the actual lineup is.

This could just be the start and like the comic they have to rescue the final member.

I'm really getting sick of how DC seems to always be taking Superman off the table. That is, when he's not being mutated into Doomsday or whatever the gently caress is going on in his books.

I can't remember the last time outside of his own series where Superman took a leading role without being nerfed in some way.

They're really doing a horrible job of showing why he's the number one hero on the planet. Greg Pak is doing his best but I imagine he feels like a salmon swimming upstream in a river of poo poo.

When he was married. :( I still cannot believe that I still have a resentment against DC comics for getting rid of it.

I do not think so. He is there icon and during his 75th anniversary they celebrated it in just his own book. Its Batman's this year and they are going all out. It sort of pisses me off how they do not know what to do with him. It could also be an issue where he is not grim and gritty so they think he is pointless.

Well, is working for Earth 2 while Vibe's and Katana's book suffered by lacking a direction beyond 'gimmick to drive sales'. And that's what the editorial is all about, arguing for a better representation of diversities on DC.

I can't argue with the notion of DC's heavy weights being archetypes more than characters and so any character sharing the spot with them will be irremediably overshadowed.

The obvious solution would be to change them from the core but that's something that few people will appreciate since they're so weaved on public conscience now.

You are right. The minority characters should be overshadowed by being with the main characters and therefore they should not be placed on the team. Instead they should be given second tier books that are low selling.
