Not much to do with Hannibal, but similar enough. I just finished watching A Zed and Two Noughts by Peter Greenaway, the same director of The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. The plot is loosely about a pair of zoologists who become obsessed with decomposition and an amputee after both of their wives die in a car accident caused by a swan. The film is very stylised, perhaps the closest thing to it is Dead Ringers, although there is more of a focus on symbolism, psychology and art that run throughout the film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHW5G6JD0Ro

http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/01/hannibal-season-3-first-promo-us-only.html Bunch of previews, but the newest one has spoilers for who lives and dies just from the cast that is interviewed(or it could be a misdirect who knows). I am so goddamn ready for season 3.

So, what does everyone think the odds are of the Garret Jacob Hobbs killing being reenacted again this season? I'm thinking Will, Molly, and Dolarhyde play Abigail, WIll, and GJH, respectively. Or Will with Reba and Dolarhyde as Abigail and GJH.

Pre-Release reviews of Hannibal are brimming with praise. All the ones I've read are saying season 3 is richer, more complex, creepier, etc. Get excited!

I am so loving hyped for this! The show had some stretches where I was like "cmon now" but the way they wrapped all that poo poo up was exquisite!

The Forbes review makes it sound like this season is going to be more Manhunter (what with the changing the color to match the tone) than Red Dragon. Good .

Thank gently caress, Manhunter had its fair share of issues but tonally it was mostly fantastic, up until the last act. Definitely my favorite Hannibal film next to Silence.

I'm sure you have all seen this thread that shows how comparatively dire Red Dragon was. So this is very reassuring; Hugh Dancy's Will dresses and acts like William Petersen's vulnerable, rural cousin. Jack, I think, hews closest to Scott Glenn's version of the character, while Hannibal and the rest of the cast (except Gideon, as Anthony Hopkins) are almost entirely invented. edit: I hope they reuse this shot. I like how you can't tell if Dolarhyde's more jealous of the man or the tiger. Mameluke fucked around with this message at 05:17 on Jun 1, 2015 |

So goddamn addicted to this show. Giffing it is so much loving fun. Going back home to New Orleans the day it airs, gonna be a fanfuckintastic welcome back present. Anyone know a good CMS that keeps gifs animated in the final display results? I do not want to code a gallery by hand, gently caress that noise, I got poo poo to do.

I watched Manhunter last night in anticipation. It'll be interesting to see what they do once they get to the Red Dragon material, since they've already borrowed and repurposed a bunch of it.

Had no idea this was already coming back. Only made it to ep 6 of my rewatch thanks to Witcher 3. I'll have to fearwatch the S2 finale tonight from under a blanket.

They recast her because she refused to do it if they kept the ending from the book. After changing the ending she still didn't return, then for some reason after recasting (Moore was an excellent replacement imo, for what it's worth) they still kept the changed ending for some reason, which is my biggest issue with the movie. Otherwise it's not overly bad, or anything. It just suffers from the same problems the book did.

Other way around -- as I recall, Foster insisted on doing the book's ending because she wanted to play it, and she walked when de Laurentiis and company insisted on the script's ending (which had Lecter handcuffing Clarice to a fridge handle, then he cuts off his own hand because he realized she didn't love him -- very Phantom of the Opera).

I just double checked and there are conflicting reports: she turned it down after reading the book, due to her issues with the way Clarice is portrayed and the ending; she wanted more and they refused and then Jodie herself saying it was just scheduling conflict, due to Claire Danes becoming available for something she was working on. So who knows, really. Either way Julianne was a solid choice. Fun fact: Gillian Anderson was considered as a replacement. Also based Cate Blanchett. Moore got the role due to Hopkins rallying for her.
