Used this sale as my excuse to finally buy all of Godland, also got the second volume of Bulletproof Coffin and got caught up on Sex Criminals, Trees, Manhattan Projects, Southern Bastards, Wytches and Lazarus. All very good comics.

and yeah, Chew is great as well.

I would say The Slavers is probably the best part of the entire run #25-30 though it's hard to suggest just one arc. ( #7-12) Kitchen Irish is as Ennis as can be which can be divisive, same with Barracuda (#31-36) but I like them both.

Really it's all good stuff. Start at the beginning and if you can stretch it get The Slavers arc because it's great. It's The Punisher at his most... Punisher-ing.

MAX is of course very good all the way through, but I'd say the top-tier stretch of the run is Mother Russia through Barracuda, which is 13-36, exactly 24 issues. throw in the Tyger one shot and that's 25, so if your limit is $25, that's what I'd do.

if you have an extremely high tolerance for gore and disturbing content, i think the original Ennis miniseries is very good. avoid the David Lapham stuff.

Aw man. I didn't know Lapham wrote Crossed. I recently read Stray Bullets and loved/am loving it, so it's a bummer that his take on a decently intriguing premise was botched.

David Lapham was doing a lot of work solely for the paycheck in the ten years or so that Stray Bullets was on hiatus, and has admitted as much. between his Avatar stuff and his Punisher Max oneshot, he got on this weird tasteless goreporn/splatterpunk kick for a while, maybe because he realized that Avatar will buy up anything with lots of hideous violence. none of it was any good.

that being said, yeah, i think there's good writing under all the gruesomeness in the first Crossed mini. it's basically Ennis trying to out-bleak The Road. but i don't blame anyone for not being into it.

Stray Bullets is one of the greatest comics of all time. the most recent issue was outstanding.

no :( i don't mind too much, but yeah, i tend to hold off on the Dynamite stuff since i can get that on comixology. but at least that helps me narrow it down so i don't blow $50 like i originally had in my shopping cart!

Archie vs. Predator #1 is loving awesome by the way. it also includes a Hellboy meets Sabrina the Teenage Witch backup that's just as awesome.

What good comics are there on Comixology that are centred on villains? I just got, and read, the first volume of Superior Iron Man and recently binged through the Avengers Academy/Arena/Undercover so I'd be happy with either a title where the villain is just being a wonderfully massive jerk to everyone like SIM or a title that shows the villains aren't just a massive jerk like AU. I've got Irredeemable and a bunch of the Batman graphic novels that are Joker centric.

Anyone have takes on The Filth and Seaguy?

(I have medium patience for Morrison, at least as I've experienced his work so far. WE3 is one of my favorite comics, and I thought All-Star Superman was pretty much a blast, too. I thought his New X-Men and Batman runs were pretty good--you know, *interesting*, at least, even if some of the storytelling choices seemed goofy. Haven't read The Invisibles/Doom Patrol/Flex Mentallo/Animal Man, but they seem like long runs to commit to when I've been "eh" on some of his most acclaimed work--especially since I think I'd be less interested in mystical/meta stuff than just in new, cool ideas executed in an interesting way.)

The Filth is my facorite comic of his. it's the counterculture weirdness of The Invisibles condensed to 13 issues and with an extreme misanthropic streak.
