Previously on X-Men: After fighting the future X-Men, Kitty and the Original 5 decided to join Scott while Magneto goes solo. The school year at the JGS ends, leaving the schoolteachers off rescuing Nightcrawler, and the students graduated. With the start of Marvel All-New NOW! and a pretty big shakeup of the entire line, it seems like a good time to restart the X-Thread. NEW BOOKS  Magneto Cullen Bunn and Gabriel Hernandez Walta Tired of working under Cyclops, Magneto goes solo and decides to solve mutantkind's problems his own way.  Cyclops Greg Rucka and Russell Dauterman Greg Rucka makes a surprise return to Marvel to write a solo series about (young) Cyclops traveling through space with his dad Corsair.  All-New Doop Peter Milligan and David Lafuente A new limited series starring everyone's favorite flying pickle, Doop, about what he does while the X-Men are adventuring. Sounds fun.  Amazing X-Men Jason Aaron and Ed McGuinness Aaron's main X-book after leaving WATXM. Wolverine and a bunch of the JGS school teachers go to the afterlife and have demon pirate adventures with Nightcrawler.  Nightcrawler Chris Claremont and Todd Nauck Speaking of Nightcrawler, his planned arc on X-Men Legacy got upgraded into a solo ongoing book. Warning: it's being written by post-90's Claremont, so read at your own risk.  X-Men: No More Humans Mike Carey and Salvador Larroca A standalone graphic novel from Mike Carey explores what would happen if all humans mysteriously disappeared. RELAUNCHED BOOKS  Wolverine Paul Cornell and Ryan Stegman After the events of the previous Wolverine book, Wolverine gets in touch with his dark side and joins a group of minor supervillains and simplifies his life. This is probably going to be ignored by all of the other books.  Wolverine and the X-Men Jason Latour and Mahmud Asrar More adventures at the school, this time with a greater focus on the students (like Quire, Idie, and Evan) than the teachers. Otherwise, there's not much different than a new creative team.  X-Force Simon Spurrier and Rock-He Kim Spurrier follows up his great run on X-Men Legacy with a relaunch of X-Force. Cable, Psylocke, Marrow, and Fantomex act as a secret black-ops group that does the jobs too dirty for the rest of mutantkind.  All-New X-Factor Peter David and Carmine di Giandomenico Peter David's X-Factor continues chronicling the adventures of the corporate-sponsored X-team. CONTINUING BOOKS  Uncanny Avengers Rick Remender and Steve McNiven Only sort-of an X-book, but still fits in this thread. The team comprised of Avengers and X-Men encounter a mutant homeworld established in space.  All-New X-Men Brian Michael Bendis and Stuart Immonen The book about the time-displaced X-Men. This time, they're hanging with Scott's team and currently doing space stuff with an intergalactic trial of Jean Grey.  Savage Wolverine Richard Isanove An anthology book of self-contained Wolverine storylines. The current one is being done by Richard Isanove and takes place during the Great Depression.  Uncanny X-Men Brian Michael Bendis and Chris Bachalo The book focusing on Cyclops, his team, and his fledgling revolution/mutant school. His sights are set on S.H.I.E.L.D., which was revealed to be secretly creating more Sentinels.  X-Men Brian Wood and Kris Anka The all-female X-book continues as the female X-Men face off against a female Sisterhood of Evil Mutants.  Origin II Kieron Gillen and Adam Kubert A miniseries, detailing Wolverine's origins. Again.  Marvel Knights: X-Men Brahm Revel A self-contained X-Men miniseries under the Marvel Knights imprint that's been flying under the radar. ENDING BOOKS  X-Men Legacy Simon Spurrier and Tan Eng Huat Spurrier's run about Legion just ended, and outside of a 300th issue special, no new issues have been announced so I'm just assuming the book is over/on hiatus for now. In the meantime, read Spurrier's run if you haven't already, it's really good.  A+X various artists and writers The anthology series that spun out of AvX is about to end pretty soon. From interviews he's done, the series sounds like an excuse for him to continue his work with Mr. Sinister, which I found to be really interesting and enjoyable and basically the first time I haven't seen the character as intrinsically ridiculous.

Yeah, I have. I'm enjoying it; it's a very pretty book. Sinister's shown up already and done some bad poo poo, but it's looking like the real meat of the plot is going to be the genesis of Creed and Logan's rivalry.

Origin II is weird to me. I read the first issue and it was okay but it feels very much like two different creators not really syncing 100%. Gillen is doing his usual thing which Kuberts art doesn't full work with. It's not bad but it's just very visibly jarring.

Savage Wolverine has rotating artist/writers but from what I've read so far none of them have been bad as long as you know what you're getting. If you like Cho and ladies and dinosaurs the first arc is good, the Wells/Joe Mad Elektra joint is pretty great and the Jock one was worth it just for the art. I'm hoping the series continues for a good bit with some more "out there" issues.

Savage Wolverine is consistently good and like a thousand times better than the main Cornell book. The current noir-ish arc isn't quite doing it for me yet, but the last few with Joe Mad, Jock and the one where Wolvie is hunting down poachers are all awesome.

What the gently caress am I reading with Uncanny Avengers? Obviously it's all going to be undone, but oddly the thing I'm hung up on is Thor escapes to Asgardian space - Odin sealed that off at the end of Fear Itself. How is Thor suddenly able to access it?

It was a nice sandbox team up book, while not all the stories were great (Magik and Thor) over all it was a fun book with some geniunly good moments and pretty funny quite a lot of the time. Whoa...spy secrets. Speaking of the Trial of Jean Grey, has there only been 1 All new and 1 GoG issue released in that storyline? It feels like forever since they came out.

Ok, Amazing X-men lives up to it's name. I haven't enjoyed a series this much since Hawkeye! Plus my boyfriend recently was interested in getting into comics, when I asked he said "I'd like to read X-men, especially Nightcrawler." and I picked it up on a whim after seeing it in the shop and he's really into it too. Are any of the other books as fun? How's X-Men?

Are any of the other books as fun? How's X-Men? The same writer who does Amazing X-Men (Jason Aaron) has a 46 or so odd issue run on Wolverine and the X-Men. That focuses more on the Jean Grey School and it's inhabitants. (It's basically like Hogwarts to Harry Potter.) I really like that run, particularly the early issues. If you want to track down the early issues you can or you can wait for the new series that's starting (with more of a focus on the new students, but it might be hard to get into if you don't know any of the new students like Genesis, Quentin Quire, Kid Gladiator.)

Just caught up on All-New X-Factor #2 and #3. It's not bad, but not terribly good either. I'll give it a couple of more issues, but if it really doesn't pick up I'll be dropping it. Actually, I tell a lie. The reveal of Snow being kinda evil felt a bit ham-handed. I'm not sure if it would have had more impact being revealed later, or if we were supposed to just assume he was evil.

My only experience with Cullen Bunn has been with his Venom and Fearless Defenders run, which I found to be boring. So I was surprised to see that his first issue writing Magneto was actually really good. Also the new Wolverine and the X-Men comic had a nice start too. Beast actually wasn't a jerk for once.

Yea, I liked WatXM. I just can't get enough of Eye Boy. Uncanny X-men, since I saw the cover, I assumed it was Black Widow because it was a womans hand and she is the only one I can think of that uses guns. It actually being Kitty made it a lot more interesting, though the timing is confusing. Magik teleported Kitty before the BftA storyline so she could work out her issues with Scott, but then returned to Jean Grey, then after BftA went with Scott later. Is that right? One thing about the issue, the artwork was really consistent. Not the paneling being based on Scotts messed up eyebeams, as that gave the whole thing a very psychedelic feel, but that there seemed to be no consistent modeling on the characters.

UXM was a weird read...the chronology was confusing and I didn't lke the art, but I liked the moments between young Scott and current Scott. WatX was ok, I really like Quentin, since New X-Men days. I hope future issues improve a bit.

It was framed with an opening of the current time where the Uncanny team find out that the All-New team was taken into space. Scott decides they have to go save them and steal a spaceship from SHIELD. The rest of it was flashbacks about Scott interacting with people we haven't seen him interact with much, and explains how he's in good standing with Kitty and his younger self now, and still awkward with the Jean thing.
