The 5 lights have been completely forgotten now too and will almost definitely be killed off next time they need to show a villain as a threat. X-teens get completely ignored for a new group of characters the second the book they were introduced in ends.

Diet Poison posted:Only cause I don't know the X-office editor by name. Whoever's in charge of X-structure. I actually quite like Bendis' Uncanny and would probably rank it 2nd after X-Force in terms my enjoyment. He can't end a story to save his life (the recent Dark Beast bullshit) but I love the stories while I'm reading them. I just really hate the whole thing where they're artificially aging Tempus up so putting her in a relationship with Cyclops will be slightly less creepy.

Nevvy Z posted:It get's weird because of the sliding timeline. These vaguely young characters are going to be adults at some point, but when depends on more or less whoever is writing them the day they hook up with an established adult character. I remember thinking that Layla couldn't be older than 12 when she was first written in House of M. It was Pixie. She was 14 before but then they had to explicitly state in dialog that she was 19 so Land's art would be less creepy. This is what she used to look like in New X-Men drawn by Skottie Young And here's Greg Land's Dacap fucked around with this message at 19:54 on Aug 11, 2014 |

This Ultimate universe crossover is an odd thing to me, I'm curious to see where it goes. There's no X-men book in the Ultimate Universe right now, maybe this's could eventually lead to the Original 5 becoming the new Ultimate X-Men team?

Neo_Reloaded posted:Both Bendis X-books are so far off the rails right now, I don't even know what to say. We're like 5 issues into each of the current arcs, and its still just different conversations about the instigating issue ("OMG we're in a different universe!" and "OMG there's a mutant who can control time, space, life, and death!"). Yeah, the stakes are significantly lowered for major character deaths now in comics. Fans know that if a death is going to last for more than one issue it'll be announced in a press release a couple months ahead of time. Otherwise we know it'll be immediately walked back, faked out, LMD'd or Doombotted next issue

I'm wondering if Hickman might take a shot at the X-Men after his Avengers/Secret Wars is over, or if he'll just go all creator owned like Fraction did.

It's not like he's actually dead anyways, we all know he's going to eventually be revealed to have been either alive or in healing factor hibernation or whatever trapped in the Adamantium whenever they want to bring him back.

The best part is that the girls treated him like a total cheeseball creep instead of falling for it.

Some people are speculating G Willow Wilson might be getting Uncanny. There's going to be a book announcement for her this week on The View apparently. It makes sense they'd announce Bendis leaving first and she's hinted at writing an X book after her current run is over on X-Men. Dacap fucked around with this message at 20:31 on Feb 5, 2015 |

I'm actually thinking it'll be Willow on X-Force and not Uncanny now, Marvel put out a press release titled "Marvel Makes a Forceful Announcement on The View" for tomorrow

The most recent UXM had a cover that was supposed to be for the next arc because the will story ran long. That's why it has Havok on it when he doesn't appear in the issue.

Also I guess they're ignoring Havok being inverted? He didn't seem to be different.

Wasn't Boom Boom in the recent X-Force book as well? I didn't read it but I don't imagine it would make much sense that she was just hiding out on Utopia this whole time, but maybe someone familiar with that book can verify.

Fox turned it down which gave us the Netflix series.

The thing that really bugs me is when Land traces the work of other comic artists, I don't understand how he isn't a complete pariah because of that. The famous gif of his X-Men cover has a bunch of traces from John Cassaday in it. I guess his efficiency in turning in pages is enough for the publishers?

Dammit Franklin after this and Jessica Jones and Ultimates 2 it's clear that you're not paying attention to the details. The whole Secret Empire WWII history is a bit sloppy on his part too.
