The only thing I'm looking forward to this season is more GJ-bu. This time I think they visit america for some reason. If it's a full series I'm probably gonna be the one to make the thread cause I loving loved gj-bu.

Jojos should be p.cool too (where's my second season of oreshura japan).

E: My boy polsy assures me that he's really hype for puchimas.

No Game No Life seemed kinda fun and interesting then the episode preview happened and then I noticed it's tagged as "Ecchi" in My Anime List and I suddenly feel kinda :geno: about the whole thing.

Just watch an episode and then judge it based on its actual merits and not what some dork on MAL tagged it as.

It is OK to like "ecchi" anims.

(It's not ok to like anims that sexualise children though)

I made a thread for the Rabbit Cafe anime

E: Good chill show overall, although it doesn't really bring anything new to the SoL genre and the fanservice of one character is problematic.

Anime guns are deep.

So I got round to peeping the new Jojos. Looks like David production got a bit more of a budget, which is good. On the downside though, I preferred the colour palette they were working with in the first season, this one seems more "generic anime".

Still, you should all be watching jojos.

Oreca Battle is art. You should all be watching oreca battle.

One Week Friends was pretty neat, albeit kinda bland. Sweet and inoffensive tho so I'll be watching it.

Black Bullet was dumb.

I then peeped the flag show which was even worse.

E: Don't watch black bullet if you hate spiders/big bugs though.

Phobophilia posted:

Also why is that man from FMA living in the sewers with a dozen little girls?

The use of little girls in this is (as a nice change) not to pander to creeps (or at least, not the usual brand of creeps) but instead it's to elect a specific emotional response from the viewer.

They show the little girls being ostracised, living on the outskirts of town, kicked out of school for being different. The group of them living in the sewers with that one guy is also supposed to elicit that response, because they're literally being forced to live in poo poo and there's only one adult "brave" enough to look after them and treat them as human.

Like I said, it really wants to be gunslinger girls, except I remember gunslinger girls being more subtle whereas this is really rubbing your face in little girl misery while yelling "THIS IS SAD DAMNIT. YOU SHOULD BE FEELING SORRY FOR THESE GIRLS". It's really overdone and in your face, almost to the point of parody.

I guess you could say that instead of being paedophile porn it's more misery porn to appeal to guys who want a power fantasy in which they "protect" girls.

The way it's done is less about being the "best" than it is about being the "most popular", which is kinda more appropriate for entertainment imo.

If nothing else I'll probably do a weighted "worst five" at the end of the year.

Namtab

I chose to weight shows evenly because the recurring rules of the voting threads specify that ranking is optional--and that by introducing weighting, you make strategic voting more appealing. That is, making the ranks and shows you vote for not truly reminiscent of your preferences so that the overall result more closely mirrors your preferences.

Why would anyone use strategic voting when it comes to listing their five favourite anims? It just seems like a grossly nerdy thing to do.

I'm not insulting your justification because I have absolutely no doubts that people do do it, I just don't see the appeal.

Basically with Ika Musume she has the vocal tic of ending her sentences with "de geso" which apparently means "squid tentacles", also whenever one of her sentences has an "ika" in it that'll be verbally emphasised.

The dub basically has her say "I'm squidding serious" and poo poo like that.

Just say it right? It's really not that hard. The stress in Honnouji doesn't fall on the "no", "Matoi" is not two syllables and I don't even know what was going on with "Kiryuuin" there.

All they have to do is listen to it said correctly and do the same thing. Studios and voice actors who specialise in anime should be able to do that if nothing else.

Just watch the subs then.
