Can anyone who's read the Haikyuu! manga tell me how much shonen burning spirit is in it?

But don't think that means you shouldn't watch the first. It's still really good

E: while you're at it, might as well watch kino's journey too

It was so overtly Yuasa it felt like overdosing on sugar.

I don't know, there was a dearth of psychedelic colors and crazy imagery in the first episode.
Though that final scene was hella Yuasa brand intense, that was great.

Sooo... does anyone understand what's going on in Mekaku City Actors at all? I'm starting to think it's just Shinbo's playhouse.

Well that sure was a pretty depressing episode, here have the extended original version of the song featured in this episode!

I guess I need IQ supplements to understand Mekaku City Actors.

I don't understand this sentiment, I thought the episode was very straightforward. Girl gets offered to become an idol and she does and now she finds out that its just made her life a lot harder. Cue the catchy Vocaloid song during the chase scene, end of episode.

We just got through a season with Kill la Kill which was skeeve levels to the max, it's kind of funny how basically the same thing is happening but with different reactions because it's not made by Trigger.

And I know some nerd is going to argue that the skeevy parts are different so that makes the argument different! gently caress you, no it doesn't. KLK had incestual rape, LITERAL RAPE

Seeing the tips here I watched Nanana, and it really is a pretty cool concept. I kinda would have preferred to watch the prequel about Nanana's life as a bad-rear end adventurer like in the intro, rather than see her reduced to a non-threatening Cute Ghost, but this show's pretty good as well. (also did I miss something or did they not explain at all why detective's assistant has started regularly wearing the maid outfit?)

Because he's a trap. Said as much in the story.

"Trap" is loving horrifying, as words go. Trans women face high rates of violence, homelessness, and suicide, and one of the contributing factors is that many people think they are playing some kind of trick on them by just existing. There are cases where people have gotten leniency for murdering trans women by saying they were driven temporarily insane by discovering their trans status.

But yea I guess I'm just a sjw lol.

That's because filthy gaijins managed to misuse the term so that it started to cover a wider range of people than what it original referred to.

What's the full story on that, anyway? I hear it thrown around, but googling it never gives me a concrete answer.

Kari Wahlgren could be a good Nonon. She replaced Nonon's VA in FLCL and did an excellent job.

You're right though, I don't see how anyone can come close to the original.

The whole plot relied on puns that don't translate into English too well so I don't see how a dub is a good idea.

Dunno if it's been mentioned, but Patema Inverted, a.k.a. movie made by the Time of Eve people, completely blew me the gently caress away. That's a movie worth seeing in a theater. I read somewhere that a US release was perhaps planned for Spring 2014, but it seems flaky. Anyone got info on that?

Okay wait, I'm so confused by the geometry presented in this movie. They fall into the sky and it turns out to be an actual solid ground where all the things so far have fallen onto, but there's no signs of the buildings that fell at the very beginning of the story. No, it turns out that they actually fell into another world underneath the bottom of inverted world and I'm just like :psyduck:
I know it's anime, but what??

It was amazing anyways, will definitely go and actually see it in theaters when it comes out.

Super duper spoilers of the movie :siren: The sky that Age and Patema fell into (via the weight connected to Patema's leg) wasn't another world, it was the artificial sky the scientists made out of guilt for the people that got gravity inverted. So the planet's core.

Patema's people are the original right-side-up people and the world they "fall into" at the end is actually just them coming up from underground to the real surface. It's stated or implied that the right-side-up people moved underground as part of the guilt of loving all the poo poo up, but my mind was pretty :psyduck: by that point.

So buildings that "fell upwards" are the space trash orbiting the moon at the end.

Okay wait, I needed to actually draw this poo poo out to fully understand. So is the right side what you're saying the plot twist was?

Ah, while we're still on the topic, is there any reason to watch the OVAs for Eve no Jikan if you plan on watching the movie? I heard the movie covers all the story presented in the OVAs, but are there any additional scenes I'd be missing out on if I chose to not watch them?
