I really need to stop spending so much money on such useless poo poo. I'm still putting a good-ish amount away each month but I could save so much more. I've bought YNAB and will try making a budget tonight.

tuyop posted:Can you give us an example? As I said it's mostly small stuff that can add up. Pizza now and then (~£10), lottery tickets, games on Steam etc. Absolutely fine in moderation (I'm preaching to the choir here ) But I don't keep track of what I buy apart from a cursory glance at my balance every few days. Which causes me to go "It's that low? Whaaa" etc.

tuyop posted:Why would you ever buy lottery tickets? Mostly it's a mental exercise for me. I'll spend £1 (£2 for a Euromillions ticket), and as I'm walking to or from work I'll run through what I'd do with the money. Whether I'd give any to specific friends, whether I'd buy a house or go travelling, whether I'd continue working depending on the amount... I actually find it pretty helpful to evaluate where I am in life, who I consider to be my friends. Of course if I win I'll invest in your BASIL growing enterprise.

I've got to pay for an exam, a new passport, and customs charges for stuff I'm importing all on the same day! I now have nothing in my current account, having to dip into savings. Whoops.

Juanito posted:What are you importing? In all seriousness, some airsoft-related products. Toy weapon accessories. Going to sell them to people for I only had to pay £90 which wasn't too bad. I think they actually undercharged me on the value. Veskit posted:Did you set up your YNAB yet? Not yet!
