The v8s never realy sounded that great anyway, the v10s were definitely something to experience firsthand. Its honestly nice to be able to hear other noises instead of just WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, the noise of the current car is cool with everything combined.

The best thing about the 1.6 turbo engines is that one day some one called Bazz from Essex will try to put one in his Saxo

But at least the world learned from an impeccable source where the Spaniard will race in 2015.

Driven away on a golf cart by the former champion, ex-King Juan Carlos of Spain asked him where he was headed and, when Alonso confided in him, he turned to live television cameras and proclaimed: “He’s going to McLaren.”

Not a classic finisher, but it's pretty fair that Hamilton had an easy win because of a Rosberg mechanical failure, the only reason Rosberg was still in it was from Hamilton's car breaking more times. He was able to be a reasonably gracious loser and Hamilton wasn't unbearable in victory.

I'll be pretty sad if this turns out to be Button's last F1 race, bit of a dull one for him to go out on (although at least better than Coulthard's!)

Incidentally the only driver who gained a WDC place from double points was Perez, at the expense of Magnussen.

No, its done, thank god. I'm glad it didn't do any real damage, even though it would have been funny as gently caress if it cost Lewis the WDC.

Back to this, why won't Ron Dennis announce the driver lineup? Hobbes basically called him a dick for dragging it out so long because if Button gets the boot (likely), its just loving over Jenson's chances of signing up somewhere else, wherever that may be.

luv 2 get custom titles from a forum that goes into revolt when its told to stop using a bad word.

Scuttlebutt has it that if Lewis lost the WDC he was going to leave Mercedes, and Alonso would move there. That's why Alonso hasn't announced where he'll be next year and why McLaren won't make an announcement for a few days either. Now that Lewis did win, he'll stay at Mercedes and Alonso has to go to McLaren.

Ron said something cryptic this weekend about potentially a 4th driver being in the running as well. Brundle took that to mean that it's possible they think Alonso+Button is too expensive, but that maybe Magnussen hasn't done enough and they've got Stoffel Vandoorne eyeing up a place on the grid.

EJ was hilarious today turning every subject, however unrelated, into talking about how McLaren should keep Button.

Ilanin
May 31, 2009

Smarter than the average Blair.
Read as "Alonso and Button is too expensive, but I'll look pretty stupid if I fire the driver who scored twice the number of points of the driver I kept on, so Vandoorne it is."

I'd have put Vandoorne in the car for this year, to be honest; there wasn't much between the two of them in FR 3.5 last year, and it was Vandoorne's first year and Magnussen's second.

I guess there's a chance Honda are pushing for one of their Japanese drivers as well, but I can't imagine Ron would OK that for anything other than maybe a test driver role.

Supposedly its more Eric Boullier that keeps delaying it because he doesn't want to sign Button. Would make sense considering all the nonsense that went on when he was at Lotus.

Looked what happened to Lotus after he left.

315 points last year, almost exactly what Williams got in 2014.

10 points this.

if they sign alonso and button for 2015 they could conceivably have neither in 2016, on the off chance that they somehow produce a title-winning car. i don't think they want to be forced to sign two new drivers in 2016.

That would've happened whether he was there or not. Boullier's greatest accomplishment was convincing Ron Dennis he can do anything other than delay putting news out.
