Why are people still bringing up the false dichtomy about fanservice? The last time I got bored enough to give a random shonen series a shot, I got treated to lovingly detailed cameltoe on a sleeping five-year old. (Please avoid reading shonen that is not JoJo.) I'm know there are people who get bothered by any depiction of sexuality but that was never the actual problem. The problem with fanservice was always how predatory it is. The upcoming fight in JoJo should have a hard time reaching that particular level of creepy, but I'm sure anime will find a way.

I think with "nakama" it comes down to would-be translators not understanding context and that when you translate things from one language to another, you need to pick the word depending on the context. Funnily enough, this superstitious approach to language stops these people from improving as translators and fucks up their contribution to their own "crew", rendering them inadequate as crewmates. You don't see Zoro say "this material cannot be cut" or Sanji go "this person doesn't deserve to eat". Do these fuckers even read what they claim to be translating? Oh wait, they can't, because they can't read japanese.

More frames of animation is not attributable to the 90s, it happened because they had the resources to make it happen. There's an elegant solution: Get more resources to animate JoJo.

Ripple was basically just ki/chakra/haki anyway, the magic tricks Joseph and Caesar pulled on each other and Joseph did to the pillar men keep getting attributed to ripple because JoJo, I guess.
