every week I go into the comic store and see the cover of she hulk and say to myself 'gat dam that looks fantastic' and then I pick it up and flip through it and am just like 'meh' and put it down. At least Black Widow had the decency to look great on the cover AND on the inside and I didnt know it was kinda 'meh' til I got it home and read it.

Anime_Otaku posted:The 2004-05, 05-09 series and She Hulks all look nice in my opinion, however, the first four from the 2014 series were fine but the last two issues by Ron Wimberly and Rico Renzi look like they were drawn with felt tip marker pens and while some of the faces have excessively angular looks thers parts where, for instance, windows and doorways have lines that are noticably not a straight line. Yeah, it was the 2014 series I was talking about - those covers are so freaking good. I am unfamiliar with those earlier series. And with She Hulk in general I guess.

I googled it and saw the cover and between awesome cover and Warren Ellis being good at comics, I am in. I have no idea what Supreme is and I dont wanna read the preview and get spoiled, but I have faith. One last issue of Moon Knight, and now Trees and Supreme? Nice.

chime_on posted:Supreme was one of Rob Liefeld's initial Image books in the early 90s-- it was a Superman clone, except Superman was a raging dickhead who had no problems using his power in super-violent ways. Alan Moore stepped in on the book at issue #41 and completely recontextualized everything, writing an amazing story arc that was a love letter to various eras of comic book history. Moore's run was unfinished for years, but in 2012 Erik Larsen did a short arc that wrapped things up and set the stage for a new team to come in and run with the book. Ellis seems to be approaching it as a David Lynch-style mystery. Well that sounds amazing. I am enjoying the re-release of Miracle Man and I like Alan Moore stuff in general. And I like Warren Ellis as I mentioned before. So this should be great... Looking forward to picking that up today.

Big week for me. Also what is Multiveristy and why should I care about it? Edit - I just skimmed an article about Multiversity (very quickly because I didnt want anything spoiled) and it sounds cool. I like Grant Morrison. Will I know whats going on if I know nothing about the "New""52" or the DC Universe in general? Edit 2 - Also, Trees is on its last chance. First issue seemed so promising but its gone nowhere since. WinnebagoWarrior fucked around with this message at 19:34 on Aug 19, 2014 |

May have some loose ties to Final Crisis, which was almost entirely about the multiverse, but it should be okay to go in without reading that (though a quick wiki skim might help.) Yeah, this is what I was hoping/expecting given the one-shot nature of it but I was just making sure that no one had heard anything different. Thanks for the feedback. I will be picking this up today as well.

I think writers need to pare back a little on opening books with long-ish arcs. Writing for the trade, in general, can lead to really poor pacing in stories, and when you launch a book with one it can turn readers away quickly. Bloody Lips was an interesting villain, but it felt like that opening arc took a long time to actually go anywhere. I actually really liked the opening arc a lot. It did move a little slow at first, but I was so enraptured with the art that I didnt mind. And then the story started picking up. I am less in love with it now, but yeah, I too will be sticking with it since its cancelled. I actually thought it was supposed to be done already - whats the last issue?
