A few weeks later I was carting back a bunch of parts and a very special motor from Knoxville.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but how is a generic pre-TU M52 a special engine? I mean, it's not a bad motor, but it's about as generic and unspecial as BMW engines get.

That engine block is not painted

Give me 15 minutes with a sandblaster and I can make any engine unpainted :haw:

Why the aluminum block out of a Z3? An M54 would make more power for the same weight. Plus They're a lot more common.

I have to buy a 3rd E30 first.

You say that like it's a bad thing or something. One can never have enough E30s.

I don't feel like making my own thread and it would make more sense here then the general BMW thread...those guys and their NEW cars.

Most of the people in that thread are driving 10+ year old E36s/E46s/E39s, very few of the posters in there own 'new' (F- chassis) BMWs. I'll read it no matter where you post it though. :)

There exists some special place in between the rust belt and hot sun cooking your paint and trim belt where perfect old BMWs roam. Is it Atlanta?

The pacific northwest.
