Something like %.05 of the NYPD gets in a shooting every year, and our hit rate is actually higher than the national average. So dumb luck I guess. We just got rid of the typewriters and don't even have dash cams so don't expect new firearms any time soon. poo poo, we rolled with Model 10s up until 1996.

Generally when someone is an rear end in a top hat and a lovely cop, I handle it by telling them, first in private and then in public "you are an rear end in a top hat and a lovely cop". Once enough people say things like "no no no no loving way am I riding with that guy" they find him a quiet spot away from the street. Super Trooper's depiction of Farva and how he was treated was basically spot on. Someone who is an actual "bad cop" is getting loving reported because first, that's my job and second, never ask a cop to choose between your job and his pension. The whole "blue wall of silence" thing comes from assholes, desperate for company, banding together and only letting the horrid assholes show in the company of other assholes, while hiding their assholes from fine upstanding non-assholes who don't tolerate wild assholes assholing all over the place.
