So apparently for April Fools day someone (I'm thinking a co-worker) posted my beat partner and my personal phone numbers on craigslist with a promise of a free TV in the ghetto. I've flagged the post but my phone is ringing / texting "off the wall" (Phones don't hang on the wall anymore). I can't think of anything to do about it.

find out who posted it and burn their house down, posting personal info of coworkers is crossing a line.

I just got my start date for the academy and the first thing they've asked me to buy is a pair of black bdu pants. I thought the black tactical cargo pants thing was supposed to be a joke. Militarization of the police. Ron Paul 2012.

it's probably just your academy uniform. Also make sure you ask for something durable for your drop gun, don't wanna have to keep getting new ones cause you asked for a kel tec instead of a diamondback.

scratch off the serial and sell the keltec on the streets, buy an M&P shield 9mm and a crossbreed holster. I don't off duty carry much because I can't be bothered to wear anything but sweat pants anymore

I had a buddy who worked a murder in iowa where the victim got killed by a .45acp hipoint. Probably the first time in history that the victim and the shooter weren't the same person when a hipoint is involved.

Untagged's department has the best off duty policy. If you can qualify on it, you can carry it.

We're Glock/Sig only due to the fact that's what our 2 agencies are issued (PD=Sig, Sheriff=Glock). We also have revolvers on the list because of legacy.

I'd say the breakdown for off-duty carry here is 50% Glock, 30% Sig, 10% unarmed, 5% duty weapon, 5% revolver.

Edit: I just switched from carrying the Sig 239 in .40 to the Glock 23 for off duty.

I never understood why agencies in the same area don't standardize their firearm, at least so ammo and magazines are interchangeable. Although here in my bumfuck dept everybody is allowed to carry whatever you want, so you have guys with midsize or full size glocks some in 9 some in 40 and one weird dude with an ancient beretta 92.

guy's still carrying 92s are the weirdest.

we carry whatever we want from an approved list (anything that isn't crap). There was talk recently of issueing all the swat guys glock 35s just to have the interchangeable magazines but nothing ever came of it.

In other news I wrote a big rear end check today, down payment on a lot/construction loan. If I suddenly stop posting it's cause I'm busy pulling my hair out for the next 7-8 months & am now poor.

you've got the body for stripping, so thats always an option

And my first duty weapon was an XD40

Branis

if I get this house for the price I wan't i'll be paying less than I pay for rent and have a better place to live than I currently live, and it looks like I could definitly get it for the right price.

Branis
Apr 14, 2006
I already pay for upkeep in the place I live now since my arrangement with the landlord is pretty informal, and plumbing/heating/electrical all that is actually newer in the potential house than in the one I live in now. The only thing that I can't really factor in for cost is the idea of being tied down to the area and that is definitely a downside.

I just bought a house and most people think I'm nuts.

I picked up a 120-odd square foot tiny house built onto a trailer. Got a good deal on it and now that i'm retired (unemployed), I know that I own a home and all I need to do is find a place to park it when I'm ready to move.

It's definitely not for everybody and I'm still getting used to it so can't say how it'll be for long-term living but it has everything my dog and I need to be comfortable for at least a year or so. Less of an investment than a nice car so even if it ends up being a total bust and I hate it I can deal with the financial hit with little extra work.

Either way you go, good luck!

I legit would live in one of those houses. Give me one of these, a medical marijuana card and the pacific coast and i'd be a happy man.
