Something that might be applicable in this thread, but have there been any crowdsourced/funded candidates yet? I've thought for a while now there's probably the potential in some of these states with low voter turn out for someone to look through polling data on certain issues and run off a platform of funded by the people (rather than an interest group) to govern or represent the people. In this day and age where there's growing knowledge of just where the money comes from to get people elected I think there's an avenue for crowdsourced political movements and candidates. Has this been tried / explored in the internet age where crowdfunding is growing?
