ROH has produced a large number of compilations over the past year, and I understand that compilations by an indie promotion are meant to capitalize on former names now thriving on other (bigger) stages, but the underlying criticism I have about ROH's compilations is that watching the best of the best almost always gets repetitive. Plus, it's awkward to watch the old, then follow the new, and realize that there is a difference.

Ugh I'm so tired of ROH putting out compilations of their best matches, where is my Christopher Street Connection 2 disc set

Not looking to debate the merits of the WiiU, but being slavishly devoted to a certain brand and having conspiracy theories that everyone is against it is pretty common.

I don't think it's fair to talk about Kane having some long career, clearly it was someone different when he was under the mask. My uncle at WWE told me so. That guy died in a parasailing accident and then they replaced him with the Kane we know today.

Could they have lowered their self-established standards and returned to the Impact Zone for a 2 or 3 day stint to tape the remaining 2014 episodes in Orlando? We'll never know for sure unless perhaps someone in TNA Management does a shoot interview years down the road on the subject. What we do know is that they did not go back to the crutch of Universal Studios-Orlando at any point after they started taping in Bethlehem back in June, which to me is a positive. They kept to their guns of not relinquishing and slinking back to their comfort zone of the past. I respect TNA so much for taking that stance.

Didn't Universal rent out TNA's soundstage to other people, so Impact wasn't able to go back there?

TNA fans truly don't realize that advertisers won't pay top dollar to advertise on a show that can't even monetize their own audience. For example, UFC never got as big of ratings as Raw, but advertisers drat well knew that that audience were spending money on the payperviews. This makes UFC lucrative for advertisers. TNA gets 5000 people ordering their ppvs and house show attendance is abysmal. Advertisers will note this sort of thing.

I don't think advertisers really care how many PPVs people are buying, they probably just don't want to be associated with dumb hillbilly stuff like pro wrestling.

One of pro wrestling's biggest stigmas is that their fans are perceived as (among other things) very poor. The other things probably hurt it too, but advertisers would flock to get into the pockets of hillbillies if they felt those hillbillies had lots of money to throw around.

I'm not sure that's true, considering WWF got next to zero big advertisers during the Attitude Era. They were one of the hottest things on TV, and lots of people were buying the PPVs (for the time). Even still they were sponsored by like Nestle Crunch and Supersoaker.

Like you think a company like Bud would be dying to be associated with Stone Cold Steve Austin at the height of his popularity, he was bigger than 99% of the guys UFC has ever had. Yet they still get bigger sponsors.

Edit: Big name advertisers buy ads on all sorts of stuff like NFL and Duck Dynasty or whatever, they don't sell PPVs. I'm not sure what selling PPVs has to do with selling ad time.

I think it was moreso Christian walking out on Vince that made him take notice of him when he returned, rather than anything he did in TNA. Christian actually refused to re-sign with WWE and walked out, rather than being released and crawling to TNA begging for money.

But who knows, maybe HHH was swooning over Christian being a NWA champion that also helped his case.

The thing I find with Russo is that, even if his ideas are terrible, he is honestly trying to make things better. Like he wants guys to get over, he wants the show to be a success. He goes about it in the worst way, but he's going for it.

Contrast that with a guy like Bischoff, where his TNA tenure felt like him not really caring at all. I'm not sure why he was even there, I guess they just shoved a bunch of money his way and he just took it and tried to make some contacts at Spike?
