Never saw Scrapped Princess. Now I have to go look it up. Who'da thought running around town carrying a honking big casket would cause people to stare? I have to admit, the whole idea of the saboteur thingy is pretty interesting. They say the magic words and they become these uber-warriors. I'd like some backstory on that. Also, are the two really brother and sister? I get the idea they're not flesh-and-blood siblings. Are the uber saboteur's respected or not? Seems like not, but yet our hero-dude seems pretty darn capable. You'd think the guys chasing them would have a better respect for that particular warrior class. The ending of this particular episode was pretty lame, I think. Or stupid or both. Our hero-boy shows himself to be very capable and then does something like this? Also, I didn't quite understand what was going on with all that electricity.

I think of saboteurs as more like breaching specialists but it appears their skillset also includes infiltration and assassination.

ninjewtsu posted:Woah woah woah, did I absentmindedly miss this at some point? Could someone tell me when this specifically was explained? I don't know why someone would just clone heads though. You'd think cloning heads would be as easy as cloning whole bodies. Based off the scars on the girls, the idea they there are multiple heads being placed on different freshly-made headless bodies, makes sense. One girls is a decent swordswoman, the other is a somewhat capable magician. They probably chose girls with skills, cut off their heads, and sewed on the Chiaka clone heads on them. Now these new Chiakas have these skills. Their best bet, I think, is to join forces. I wouldn't be surprised if that happens.

Anyone else wonder about mass neither being created or destroyed as Frederica converts from girl to dragoon and back again? Again, I am guessing it all goes into Z-Space. That's just a guess though. The magic system is so not explained here. We got red-eyed ninja children and multiple-possible-clone princesses to worry about too. However, I do have to agree with everyone else on the best part of this episode was the Frederica helping Toru come to his senses. You know some writers laughed themselves silly conceiving of this scene, and we are enjoying it too. I don't think there's any reciprocal romance going on here. Also, is is specifically stated somewhere that Chaika is just 14-years old? That seems awfully young to be galavanting around the countryside alone with just a coffin and a high-powered magical anti-tank rifle. I do like the technology of this world too, though. The automobiles are pretty cool, rifles, swords. Nice mixture.

Blhue posted:So I'm guessing it will turn out that the various Chaikas are homunculi Gaz created and someone is manipulating them for some presumably sinister purpose now. Get these innocent looking little 14-year olds with various skills out there to begin the process. Someone is organizing this. They got their money and equipment from somebody. Speaking of which...Chaika appears to be loaded. This episode was no where near as fun as the last. I'm trying to think of what purpose it might have? A little Chaika character development? A tiny bit of development about the current government and the guys that are supposed to be hunting Chaika? The troupe display was mildly funny but nothing like last episode's punch to the face antics. No real development. I did find a Wiki about this show, and apparently Chaika really is just 14. Toru is 20 and Akari is 17.

It makes sense that the writers took Fredrica out of the picture right away last episode. A loving dragon on your side means no tension. They'd just waltz up to the bad guys and she'd kill them. Seeing Toru handle Akari was nice too. It's nice to have a capable protagonist every once in a while. Looks like the neck scars are a significant thing after all. I wonder how they make all the Chaika heads? I imagine some kind of Creepy Crawler mold thingy, but they put in the goop and out comes a Chaika head.
